I received a temporary block on the messaged for sending out too many messages in my first few days here. How long will the block be in place?

I would say at least a few days. CM frowns on folks spamming others, as you've found out. I'd recommend that you slow down and take some time to read profiles before sending out any more messages. We can't really answer for you on this side, merely speculate. You'd have to ask the profile side's admins.

In the future, if you send fewer messages (and therefore put more time and serious thought into each one) you will receive more responses.

I know it sounds counterintuitive but it works.

And don't write people who make it clear that you aren't their type. It isn't just sending out lots of messages that will trigger the spam feature. If you write annoying letters, the recipients may well hit the button that reports it as spam.
