Belle, flicka, little girl. love dove.

In the South it's punkin - rolls off the tongue easier, especially when speaking with a drawl. [sm=coffee.gif]

Sweet baby, sweetie pie, sugah (sugar, Southern style), little angel, wittle boo boo pufferhead. Oops, not that last one - that's what I call my kitten.

For your stories, you could google "affectionate names" and get lots of great lists. Even the ones for pets have some good suggestions that a Daddy might use.

It really depends upon the lady for me but, I guess there are some "favorites".

"Baby" (of course), "Sweetheart", and "Lady" are pretty standard but, I do have a few oddball examples.

My lady's last name is a rather long, German name. When my uncle asked me her full name, I responded: "______________ Hacklebarney". I have no freakin' idea where that came from (It's a park, in New Jersey but nowhere near where I lived).

As a result, "Hacklebarney" has become kind of a pet name for her. In all fairness, though, she also calls me "Collins".

There are two others that are a bit "different" because I lived down South for a while. I was raised in Brooklyn. I grew up with the Noo Yawkuh accent (It's finally starting to fade, to a degree). But, I do occasionally call her "Darlin' ".

Also, for some reason, I call her "Sugar" on occasion. I can only relate that to my time spent, down South.

Screen captures still RULE! Ya feel me?

I use "pretty" with my boy (yes, I'm his Daddy) quite a bit.

I really like the connection in this. While love and darlin' work wonders too, this is more personal/exclusive to the two of you.

I have had two Daddy/daughter relationships of note. I found that creating an individual name made both of them love it more than a generic name. The first I called 'pixie' and the second 'lolly'.

I would imagine that most girls have heard all of the generic names at some point so a unique name is something they will take pride in and grow to love.

my girl once communicated to me that she hated the name "Baby" and could not explain why. Basically she says she knows she hates pickles as well and can never eat them, just can't tell you why. So I tried to respect her opinion and keep from using a term that was ingrained into my vocabulary for years. Very difficult, and knew I had to come up with something unique so that is would help me focus on it. I now call her "Prin" which is short for Princess. We know at no time will she ever hear this name from another, and it is part of what makes her genuinely mine!
