PapaBearsSub -> I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 11:50:34 AM)

Hello everyone,

I see my sub has already posted on the forum here and started quite a stir on her thread; she is quite intelligent yet very opinionated. I am her Dom that she refers to as PapaBear and my real name is Ray.

This last week I purchase a whole slew of elcectrostim products from Extreme Restraints. Honestly, I went a little overboard and basically bought pretty much everything that looked cool and or fun. For reference purposes only I am listing the items I got for us below:

1x Zeus 6 Channel Digital Powerbox
1x Zeus ElectroSex Clamps
2x Vaginal Electrosex Electrode (One modified to be slightly smaller for anal)
1x Zeus Electrosex Deep Intruder (Holy crap this thing is huge)
1x Zeus Silicone Black Adhesive Pads

1x The Zeus Twilight Violet Wand
1x Arcana Electrosex Wand

1x Zeus Incite Electrosex Gel - 8.5oz

I am pretty sure we have everything we are going to need for quite some time. On Saturday we used pretty much every item just to test it out and see how well it worked. All in all, it was a great experience and my sub enjoyed the full spectrum from pleasure to pain. With all of the above said, I have some questions and concerns and would appreciate if any experienced people could assist.

1. After about 30-40 minutes of low to mid level pulse play, the kind that feels good yet not painful, we noticed she was starting to sweat. I do not mean profusely but noticeable for someone who does not regularly sweat during play. We wanted to make sure this was either normal or at least not some danger sign we need to look out for.

2. The instructions for the Zeus Power Box states that you should not use the items above the waist. However the Twilight Violet Wand had little to no instructions and I wanted to know if that item can safely be used above the waist, like on the nipples back etc...

3. Do you happen to know of any how to's in regards to electrosex play? We did what felt good and just played around but I would like it to be a little more fluid. It wouldn't hurt to see how others are using the items.

4. Any other tips and tricks in regards to electrostim play would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any and all responses. I hope this was posted in the correct forum, it was not clear on the forum titles where to post these questions.

-Ray

What you have here is called a TENS unit. Stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Basically that means the box you have sends micro pulses that match the same frequency and intensity as the brain, to nerve clusters in the body, tricking them to respond. This can cause muscles to contract or release, pain sensations to turn on or off, etc. The intensity these sensations are felt, depends on the strength of the signal. To answer your first question, why she started sweating? The contractions of muscles. TENS units are actually used therapeutically to work out atrophied muscles through the rhythmic contraction and relaxing of them. Basically She was getting a 40 minute workout. The second, about above the waist. This is mainly for legal reasons, as there is no actual proof that any TENS unit has caused an injury let alone a death by use above the waist. There are several people who still believe this myth to be true, others like myself choose facts and personal experience. Third, there is a wealth of information about how-to electrostim on the internet. Even videos for purchase both informational and kink related. Just type either e-stim, electrostim, or TENS into google and that should get you started

PapaBearsSub -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 2:06:45 PM)

Darkfeather,

Thanks, you were mildly helpful in your response. I am glad to hear the sweating was not some warning sign.

However, telling me to search Google, like I am a total idiot, was not helpful at all. There is a thread her just talking about what books are good to read. Based on your response the only thing it should say in that thread is "Search Google for BDSM or Topping etc..." I was looking for sources someone may know and trust from personal experience. Not trying to offend you here, but that was a ridiculous response to anyone above the age of 12.

mnottertail -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 2:09:15 PM)

For all things electrical, google Uncle Abdul.

Darkfeather -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 2:18:30 PM)

Well, asking for a general "whats good for electrostim?" Guess what, you get the search google answer. And no offense taken. If you have specific questions, I would be more than happy to answer you, but general run of the mill questions get general run of the mill answers. That's how this works

PapaBearsSub -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 2:26:14 PM)

I am pretty sure my question was direct; "Do you happen to know of any how to's in regards to electrosex play?"

The answer is either yes with an answer or no. I did not ask how I could search for information, i asked if you personally knew of any. Now you want to argue whit what is in black and white in my first post.

Wow, what a pompous response to someone who took the time to answer you. Go You!
So sorry that others aren't jumping right in and answering your "direct questions", but in the meantime,
since you know about the book thread, perhaps you also know there are many many threads here in the
archives that have great discussions regarding electro play. Just use the search feature up top.

You win the INTERNET!!! [sm=cheering.gif][sm=cute.gif][sm=cheering.gif][sm=cheering.gif][sm=cheering.gif][sm=cute.gif][sm=cheering.gif]

But only if you answer this direct question.
Do you like peanut butter and banana sandwiches?

PapaBearsSub -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 2:47:06 PM)

Yes I agree it was a bit pompous.

This is not the first forum I have been to or belong to. It is also very common on all forums I visit for new people to the forum to be treated like new people to the internet. Sorry if I got mildly annoyed by this default action.

I have searched Google and found some good information. I have also read the stickies and ordered a couple books on Amazon. Lastly, I have used the search function, but as usual the search function is not the greatest (very common on forums). Thus I was asking for personal advise on this thread that was outside the usual. I am sorry if I did not make that clear in the original post.

So speaking of Google, one of the things I tell my sub to do is to Google something first. An example would be the definition of what a How-To is

how-to
noun
1. a book, video, or training session that provides practical advice.

I'm sorry for continuing to be pompous but I am sure I asked direct question. Let me reword it in laymen terms " Do you happen to know of any books, videos, or training sessions that provide practical advice in regards to electrosex play [sic] from personal experience [sic]?

DaddySatyr -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 3:00:31 PM)

I have very little experience with electric play (but I'm interested as all get-out).

This bit that I clipped caught my attention because whenever I asked people "in-the-know" about electric play, they gave this warning. Finally, I asked my doctor. I've raised his eyebrows on more than one occasion so, this wasn't that big a deal.

My doctor told me that avoiding above-the-waist activity was a "safe bet" because some of the devices (I didn't know enough to ask about specific ones) had been known to cause issues with people that were prone to heart issues.

He asked if this had anything to do with my medical conditions (I was still under-going testing and MS was still 'on the table" as a possibility). I said: "No" but I did ask if there were any benefits and I did get something of an education.

I am not trying to be contentious. I swear I'm not but, was my doctor wrong?

TENS units are subcutaneous. The signal they generate doesn't actually travel very far into the skin. Think nerves that are under your skin and muscle groups. These devices are designed to target these nerves, and send signals along to your brain. Now, your heart, is about in the middle of your body, quite a lot deeper than a few millimeters below the skin where the nerves start. The reason these warnings are given, was because of real electricity. If you take one hot wire from an outlet, hold it in your hand, then hold the return wire so the current passes through your heart... Your heart would stop. Of course, most people would boil like a potato as well, but hey that's beside the point.

dollenburg -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (4/30/2014 10:49:56 PM)

Always keep in mind the Kirsten Taylor warning!

OriginalRebel -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (5/1/2014 1:30:16 AM)

You can do a two day course and you can even do a home course http://www.teachtx.com/ultrasnd.htm Its a bit heavy going and not specifically what your looking for but if you want to really understand a 'TENS' unit without all the myths, this is the one.

E-stim is the biggest seller on the BDSM market but make sure you look at the actual E-stim site http://store.e-stim.co.uk/ for good information and not at one of their affiliates where you will find all sorts of misinformation.

Violet wand is a wonderful beast but the the Zeus Twilight is limited because, as far as I know, you can't get the metal rod adapter? Violet wands will burn if over used on the skin. I would say no more than ten minutes at a time if you don't want the skin to become sore (sun burnt). People temporarily brand with violet wands which is another thing to consider. Lots of info on FL branding section about that.

PapaBearsSub -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (5/1/2014 12:19:52 PM)

OriginalRebel,

Thank you very much for the information. The first site with the training is probably a little more than I was looking for, but certianly a great resource. The e-stim site is quite useful and has made me a little disappointed in what I have purchased :(

They have their own forums there and many of my questions are answered in depth. I may be buying one of their units now...

Thanks again,

-Ray

Your welcome Ray. Without seeing the Zeus6 power box I can't say for cetain that E-stim products are usable with your device but keep in mind that technically E-stim use the same technology used for the Zeus6 and its highly likely that all the extras you can buy for Estim will probalby fit to your Zeus 6 Channel digital power-box. Before I started using E-stim products I had a regular off the shelf tens power box and I initially used all those lovely E-Stim extras from that power box without problem.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (5/2/2014 7:57:05 PM)

PapaBearsSub-

Estim is my specialty. I learned almost all I know from smartstim.com. The site is free and anonymous. They have a great "Female Perspective" section which will get you much farther faster than anything else I've seen on the net.

If you have specific questions you can't find answers to on the smartstim site, you're welcome to pm me on the other side.

This site also has many good suggestions and the daily blog is chock full of helpful information: http://anna-braxtons-store.myshopify.com/pages/advanced-techniques-for-female-orgasm-via-e-stim

Best of luck. Ride the lightening!

MistressDarkArt -> RE: I have a few questions about electrostim (5/2/2014 8:01:11 PM)

I should add that there is a lot of DIY information on smartstim. They even explain how to make a stereo-stim box from a cheap pair of computer speakers. Also, they have work-arounds so you can make any box work with any electrode via cheap adapters. There's also excellent information on how to electrify your favorite toys and modify existing trodes so they are just perfect for you.
