Is it good for bad people?

A little bit of context would help to understand what you're asking...

MrBukani -> RE: Religious double standards (4/30/2014 4:08:58 PM)

Atheist the baddies
christian the goodies.
While they do the same shit, I get the double standard.

I must say it sounds very american to me.
Europeans have less of a schism that way.

I am not one of the good people here. On average I think there's a lot of bad people attending the forums.

i am a proud American living on land stolen from its original inhabitants. i'm genetically a French/English who was adopted at 3mnths old by a massive Irish/German/Polish Clan. i was raised a Catholic and although i believe in God(ummmm b/c i can, so therefore i do) i do NOT believe in the Bible(why did no women contribute to the writing of that book???). i believe in a spiritual base and as a result i raised both my children in their young years as Catholics(b/c it was comfortable). My 19y/o son was into Wicca and is now an Atheist by choice and my 11y/o daughter is a Pentecostal by choice. Both children adore me, each other and their father, my ex husband, and our(their) extended family members/friends. i have a choice..... to love or not love.
Glass half full/Glass half empty
Christian/Atheist
My life is a contradiction that works b/c i make the most of that which many ignore....

Free Will.

Nope.

Watch an episode of Cosmos, any episode and then tell me with a straight face that describes a "Glass half empty" view.

i truly thank You for attempting to enlighten me!
You can say nope Your whole life, doesnt confront me Sir.
i work in healthcare; a floater on all floors & private in home care. Watching people die gives me a front and center seat to cosmos in action.
i did watch the show in my late teens. Its why i'm in healthcare.
You say the glass is half full.... it is.
You say the glass is half empty.... it is.
You say there isnt a glass... than there isnt.
Evereyday i see God.
Everyday i see what our free choices, or lack thereof can do.
Its what You want it to be.......b/c You are the matter.
You house it all.

You are the star

Excellent, so you can attest to the sense of joy and awe that Carl Sagan shared with you?

An interesting presentation. I didn't get through the whole thing, although the basic point seems clear enough. I agree that there are double standards with religion, although I think that's more of a human failing than anything else. I don't think that everyone embraces such double standards, although part of the problem is that people don't take the time to think things through and consider the ramifications of what they say when they spout off religious platitudes and idioms. Politicians and their followers often do the same thing.
