The big question for Pirates II is "Will Jack make it out of this one?"

Why would Disney have that question in its previews when it already announced that Pirates III is already being made?

I don't think I need to watch Pirates II to find out if Capt Jack Sparrow lives. However, more sword fighting, action, and an interpritation of Davie Jones sounds interesting. Is it just me or does this concept of Davie Jones remind anyone of Kthulu?

Who cares???  It's Johnny Depp!!!!

Master actually gave me a Captain Jack Sparrow poster for my birthday two years ago, 'cause even He knows you just can't fight the pure animal magnetism of Johnny Depp.

Saw it and kept asking myself: "Is it me, or does this thing just keep going and going and going....?" I was much more impressed with the first one. The second one seemed hurriedly done and the ending was so shameless, its ridiculous. And yes, there is a very chthonic element at play here. lol

Makes me wonder who really controls Disney...

i think the point the op was trying to make is that you can look at the cast list for pirates iii to tell whether or not he makes it :P

but it was still a good movie. even if it wasn't exactly as good as i expected.

I agree with the point made that it seemed VERY long.  I was wondering when it was going to end.  My wife (or whatever she is right now) really enjoyed it though, although I think she was oogling Johnny Depp (who did do a very good job incidentally).

Got to say that I will watch it for the sword fighting more than anything else. I worked at Disney World for over 11 years and all of my kids loved the Pirates ride at Magic Kingdom. We would go at least once a week. Then I just found out that one of my close freinds here in Arizona made all of the leather belts and baldrics for the main characters. I will probably end up seeing it at least 4 times in the theatres.

the Owner went and saw it because he loved the first one but sadly this one wasn't any where near as good. He came home very disappointed.

I thought it was rather long too and not as good as the first, my dad who was also watching got up and left the livingroom because he got tired of sitting through it.

by the way, why were some of davy jones's men pure barnacales? is that whatcha turn into when ya been with jones to long?

I was told that the whole movie was basically nothing but a lead-up to the third movie. So, maybe I'll watch it some afternoon when I've nothing better to do and feel like having some eye candy/brain junk, but Im not going to push myself to see it. *shrug*

Maybe because its a kids film and kids dont always think like we do. Just maybe the kids wont click on.
Also it would be possible to make part three without jack you know.
Being a little picky arent ya?

edited to add im going senile i posted in this before lol

You don't watch sports movies to see if the underdogs will win out over their adversity.  You watch them for the plot and moving journey along the way.

Go with the genre.

As a film I think PC 2 is confused and muddled, the plot jumps around and it feels like some major elements have been cut out in the edit.. however putting that to one side, the film was one of the funniest I've seen in a long time.... the cast are all excellent, the special effects spot on, the stunts look good, and the comedy just keeps going. most important, my kids absolutely loved the movie! the dvd has kept em quiet for hours......

Really.......Sleeping beauty prince got into a sword fight with a witch, There were all sorts of Monsters in other Disney movie's. I thought Pirates was very Disney. Love, some girl getting captured, friends, good over coming evil...........sounds Disney to me.

I've grown pretty accustomed to the second movie in a trilogy being something of a cliffhanger, remember, Star Trek and Spocks death, or Star Wars and Han in carbonite?  I generally hate the second movie because they make me wait a long time for a payoff.  What the heck are they, SADISTS??
Sometimes I just wait to see movie 2 until just before movie 3, so I don't have the agony of delayed satisfaction.  And sometimes, like with Pirates.. I just watch them early to see the men with long hair and sweaty chests.  Hmmm... I know I have that copy around here somewhere..

I loved it! It is a great rendition of the original story. Personally, I should think Walt would have been way more proud of this than of the crud they put out on the 70's and 80's.

I just thought it was deliciously weird and unreal. The costume people should get an award for the sea creature pirates.
