Curious to ask, since your country is so polarized it seems only like a matter of time. With the right wing as extreme as they are, and with the left more or less complying to the demands of the right in many cases and failing to keep promises which should have been easy to keep, it makes one wonder.

I'm adding plenty of options for you people since you seem so testy when your option doesn't seem to be on the list.

A healthy democracy constantly goes through periods of more or less peaceful revolution.

Only people who have never truly seen war consider it as a viable option.

And there's a wealth of actual solutions before resorting to violence.

It's more that people don't want it solved -- they like it this way.

Only question is which one will this one be? If there is one?

Revolution, as Galbraith said, is the kicking in of a rotten door.

This isn't a rotten door -- it's a few groups of very stubborn people.

We are near a tipping point. Whether that point leads to war I don't know. We may just devolve into a bunch of third world countries squabbling over which is the "real" USA while the oligarchs huddle in their enclaves. Or one side or the other may go to war. All I know for sure is that if we as a nation don't come to our senses and soon things are going to get ugly.

Nah I don't think so. Maybe Canada should have one, then tell us how it goes?

Americans are too lazy to take such a proactive approach, even given our propensity to violence.

This is all more about someone to blame.

We dont need one, Canada isn't exactly polarized when it comes to our politics. The politics aren't great but it's not as insane as our neighbours

But if thats the approach you want, we've already done socialized health care and it works great, so feel free to follow suit my friends who claim to be LEADERS of the free world

We're due for one. America has lost it's way from the very start. What with slavery, discrimination, tons of unjustified wars, violation of our most basic rights over and over. The people still believe in what the country stands for, but its government does not.

It just really chaps the ass of some of you Canadians that we don't want to be like you, doesn't it?

Uh...dude......we started by embracing slavery from the start.

Read a little history of your own country before you decide what's "due."

Really.

First Nations? Quebec separatists? Fishing rights? Sealing? Alberta tar sands?

You've had some conservative prime ministers that would give us heart attacks.

Hardly, we just find you guys insane is all. A sadistic part of me enjoys watching the collapse of the USA, but at the same time a lot of what the USA does has repercussions on us as trading partners and allies. We'd rather not get dragged down into the dirt thank you very much

Lol, ya we got those problems but we've moved well past deciding if gay marriage should be legal or not and other issues Americans seem so hell bent over. We're not free of issues, it's just we're not stuck in the past and one political party's constituents aren't calling for the head of our prime minister. I don't like harper, but organizing support rallies to hang him? Ya, I'd take canadian conservatives over american conservatives any day

Does the US need a another revolution?

Probably but the world civilization will collapse due to some natural disaster or because humanity was driven insane by reality tv.

I'm not so sure about that.

What happened at the Bundy Ranch bothered me. How hard would it be for some rich bastard to turn some group of militia guys into his own death squads?

If you haven't been following it the US military officer corps is now dominated by fundamentalist Christians especially in the Air Force. Their loyalty to a Democratic President is questionable at best. The top brass has made an attempt at purging the worst elements but results have yet to be seen.

Now add in the disruptions from climate change.

I just don't know how much the country can take.
