Duh. Yes.

But Republicans will do their best to obfuscate it.

http://www.militarytimes.com/article/20140227/NEWS05/302270033/Senate-blocks-huge-vets-benefits-bill

Neither of which were a clean VA bill. Unless you consider in-state tuition a VA program.

Musicmystery -> RE: Death Panels, the VA and Obamacare (5/20/2014 5:12:18 PM)

If the bill showed up clean, Republicans would amend it.

And no one cited the tuition as their reason for voting it down.

thompsonx -> RE: Death Panels, the VA and Obamacare (5/21/2014 7:56:49 AM)

Considering vets are one of their core constituents?

Would you have any validation for this ignorant, peurile, unsubstantiated opinion?

Which is irrelevent. You claimed republicans did vote down a clean VA bill. I showed they did not.

The bill voted down increased government spending by half a trillion dollars, and with no trade-offs, thus would have increased the deficit the same.

Political grandstanding. The dims introduced a defense bill so odious that even the republicans coudln't swallow. It was made with no other purpose than to portray dims as good for vets.

No you did not[8|]

Why is it that you are for military intervention
but
against giving the troops adequate protective gear, and against giving them medical treatment after their lack of body armor allowed them to be wounded?

Clearly shows that some only value vets who have the good taste to die and not be a burden on their profits.

Musicmystery -> RE: Death Panels, the VA and Obamacare (5/22/2014 7:04:46 AM)

Bullshit. You're reading your invented version of my post.

The Republicans voted down an increase in VA funding that came from already allocated but unused funding for military operations. They simply didn't want Obama to score budget points. And all this is still under the bullshit of balancing a budget that wouldn't be in trouble had Republicans not slashed funding in 2001, creating the seeds of budget crisis.

The defense point is just silly -- those same Republicans ADDED military spending the military doesn't even want - - - and with no trade offs, increasing the deficit the same.

Political grandstanding it is, yes.

Read your own damn links. These bills were multipurpose funding bills not VA bills. They including fertility options for vets (a non starter by itself). Guaranteed instate tuition rates for vets. Etc etc.

I can't even find the increase in spending for the VA in your link. Perhaps you'd point it out for me.

Phydeaux -> RE: Death Panels, the VA and Obamacare (5/22/2014 7:24:47 AM)

In the news today, Fox is reporting

Penalty phase - New evidence that the administration knew about, but didn’t act on problems at VA hospitals seems to have forced Obama’s hand. Reports show that the president’s transition team was informed of shady practices at the agency in 2008. Now we know that the VA was well aware that health clinics were faking patient wait times in 2010 to hide intolerable backlogs.

Likely to become a bombshell if other media pick it up.

Tkman117 -> RE: Death Panels, the VA and Obamacare (5/22/2014 7:32:00 AM)

The words reporting and Fox in the same sentence is an oxymoron, you should know this by now [8|]

The words reporting and ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo et al in the same sentence are mutually exclusive...the majority of Americans know that.

More bullshit. The articles are ABOUT the VA spending.

If those other reasons are why Republicans voted it down, why did they not cite those?

Instead, they cited the ones I mentioned.

Welcome to Reading 101. Sorry it clashes with your invented perception.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/17/veterans-groups-blast-obama-plan-private-insurance-pay-service-related-health/

The V.A. now requires you to report of you have insurance. The next step is denial of care if you don't have health insurance.

The current pattern seems to keep a person cycling on station and never actually treat anything. A primary care is slotted about 15 minutes per patient and has to spend twelve of those minutes going through mandatory statistical information gathering on each visit. The primary care physicians are in effect prevented from referring to anywhere they can actually get treatment because you have to show tests requiring the treatment within the last 90 days to see a specialist but appointments are only made at least six months out.

The V.A. is Hospital California and works on Catch 666 principles. (Yes, that is an allusion)

So IOW W fucked vets and Obama hasn't been able to get the problem fixed so you're going to blame Obama.

It doesn't matter if Clinton fucked veterans, if Carter fucked veterans or even if bush fucked veterans.

Americans elected people expecting them to competently execute the affairs of office and fix problems discovered.

If Americans find that the Obama administration knew about problems at the VA since 2008 and in 8 years have done nothing to fix them then the dims are going to have yet another albatross around their neck going into the midterm elections.

Dims are drowning under the accumulated evidence of their own incompetence.

If it is intended to allude to Catch-22 it isn't devilishly clever, old cheese.

I'm not a big fan of the Democrat leadership -- I think they've misplaced their spine.

But in terms of incompetence, Republicans have placed the bar so incredibly low that Democrats are still in good shape.

The op is five years old. The va does not require a service connected disabled vet to have insurance.

mnottertail -> RE: Death Panels, the VA and Obamacare (5/22/2014 9:45:15 AM)

And in fact there are many classes of vets not required to have insurance. I'm like a 6 and VA is my insurance and my Obamacare.

TKman's version is funny, because its original. Yours sucks, like that kid wanting to be popular, so copy cats someone else's material without giving proper credit.

Curious you didn't put NPR in there; They actually *DO* report the news.
