If it works as the stated, it will also create energy from moon light (or, from sunlight reflected off the moon), which is quite an interesting idea. Hopefully the dual axis tracking system doesn't use up much power, and that creating kajillions of glass orbs doesn't ruin the whole "carbon reduction" strategy of solar power.

That looks really interesting and would be VERY useful in Australia. We also have a LOT of desert here where solar farms could be sited. Oops, I forgot, our wonderful prime minister (who is some kind of demi-god in his own mind) says there is no such thing as climate change and even solar power is something from the devils handbook. your not going to believe this but his name is Abbot and one of his great friends is an ex-treasurer called Cosyello. I will leave the rest to your fertile imaginations.

If you raise the cost of electricity high enough .. you can make solar competitive.. but then your industry and consumers dependent thereon are not. Happy to provide statistics if you provide the source.

I think, like Germany, their standard electricity rates are pretty stiff in Spain Jlf (not sure...but I think I read that somewhere recently). Frankly, while I'm not one of the "save the whales/tree hugger" types, I kind of wish they'd raise rates enough here to make some of these things "affordable". I know that's a total hypocrisy as to honest value, but we just need to find some way to lessen the pollution we create. It's not healthy.

I suspect we're not much farther away than 50 years from some pretty smart guy figuring out some kind of mega cheap energy, and all of this is part of the process to get there.

I am very supportive of the private sector taking the reins and making stuff like this happen. Perhaps you could point out when that has been done in the field of photovoltaics in the past 50 years? Haven't the advances come because of govt. investment?

Bottom line: solar power even with heliotropic tracking is still not cost effective. Not cost effective as opposed to what? Solar pannels are currently available for about $1 dollar a watt. How is that not cost effective?

I have heard a lot of people say that st gore and his cronies were less than honest and I have even heard a few suggest they are crooks, but I have never heard anyone claim climate change was a myth. And what difference does it make in any case. Isn't it common sense to find cheaper and more efficient ways of creating energy? And isn't it also common sense to take care of the planet we call home? But then again I suppose just talking about spomething without taking a swipe at someone wouldn't be any fun, would it? The links I looked at had a lot of people who argue how much man plays a role in climate change but I didn't see any that said there was no climate change. And that was your claim. That they are denying climate change. So who said that?
