My local BDSM club, Desert Dominion, www.desertdominion.org is having a general membership meeting next weekend to vote on whether to repeal or keep our latex barrier rule.

The rule states, "No exchange of body fluids except when kissing. Penetration and oral sex require a latex barrier. We supply gloves, condoms, and dental dams for this purpose."

The person who proposed repealing this rule stated that many other clubs do not have such rules.  My question is, do you know of clubs that don't have such a rule and if so, what is the effect.  Also, what is your personal opinion of the rule.  Do you think we should keep it, repeal it, or amend it?

To be a service to the community and everyone in it they should keep the rule.
It should promotoe education since we have so few anymore who know anything at all about sex.  How STD's happen.
Herpes can be given person to person without penetration.  People should learn just a wee bit about their bodies.

What happens when someone contracts Aids at a party then tries to blame the party host because they didn't protect them well enough?  This is America we have ignorant lawsuits filed daily.

That rule is very importend dont get rid of it what does it matter if other clubs have the same rule if its a good one and it is keep it it just makes your club better and safer then the others

My answer is different than the one's I have seen here. At the Lair, (I haven't been there but my Daddy wants to take me soon) they have rules against penetration out in the main area, and have a separate room for this that people can use. Oral is allowed, and I have never heard of a latex rule.

I believe the reason penetration isn't allowed is that there is some rule in this region about sex clubs and the ability of patrons to give out their contact info to one another... so sex is not allowed out in the open unless the club stipulates to patrons that they are not allowed to exchange phone numbers.. the rule does not exist because of STD transmission.

I think that it is up to consenting adults to be careful with their own health and that of their partner. It isn't up to the club to demand it. It really gets silly when you think about a monogamous couple having to use these measures because they are in a club. I think advertising the availability of these devices and the wiseness of using them is all that is necessary IMO.

I can't tell you about the Lair.  I do know the founders and owners.  Though, I don't care why they made their rules enough to go the distance to ask.
I do know Club X in San Diego amoung many other's across the country have gotten into hot water.
For various reasons.  Not wanting to write a whole synopsis about the whys and ifs here.
I guess to summarize.  You can be charged with prostitution if you charge money and allow sex on the premises.
In California anyway.  Other states may have different laws.  Just as they vary widely from city to city.

Local club does not allow exchange of fluids other than kissing.

My god, you're right.  And if anyone doesn't believe you, send them over the the Yahoo Answers board and have them look up "pregnancy" and "Sexually Transmitted Disease".  I've never witnessed so many genuinely ignorant or misinformed people in my life.  It's a sad fact, but the majority of people in the world today are sorely lacking in sexual education.

Smilezz, I got your email, but can't answer it here SINCE NOBODY RECEIVES THE EMAILS I SEND HERE.  While I do know more than a few members of APEX, I don't see them often.  You have given me an idea, though.  I think I'll post a question about it on the ARIZONA_BDSM Yahoo Group.

Thank you.
