(I just realized that I put up a topic not too long ago about one of my pet peeves.....there seems to be a pattern developing.....)

Anyway.....what I really wanted to do was ask everyone.....what do you think is your craziest/strangest/goofiest pet peeve?

A new one I recently noticed for me.....this weird trend in advertising to make brand names into verbs. Advertisers no longer want you to "go to KFC" ...they just want you "to KFC". So the brand name KFC isn't a noun....an actual place....now it's something you do.

In the mid-Atlantic region there is a department store chain called Boscov's and their latest slogan is "Did you Boscov today?"

Killing the English language one word at a time....

....

There are so many of them, I scarcely know where to begin. Free association, in no particular order.

Like you also feel, butchering the English language is somewhere on my list.
There are also distinctions which make subtle differences. Continual & continuous. Sensual & sensuous. Sexual & erotic.

Wishy-washy people get on my nerves. I probably get on their nerves just as much.
Which brings us to people-pleasers, unless it's my sub. To me, not to everybody else. He needs to be able to stand up for himself.

There must dozens of BDSM-related stuff that rub me the wrong way.
I try to be understanding, but those who mix up D/s with BDSM has to top that list.
There's gotta be a better or more accurate term than "kinky" for us non-vanillas.
Kinky to a vanilla is light years away from what kinky means in BDSM vernacular.
There are D/s couples who aren't into BDSM much, or not really at all, who wouldn't consider themselves to be kinky.

Oh, oh, oh. Guys who think women think the same way that they do, that our minds are also in the gutter, that we want to be treated how they want to be treated.
Conversely, guys who think just because they can spout off about politics and current events, that this makes them bastions of sophistication. Can we say "friend zone" in unison? (Where the sports fanatics and/or tekkies belong)
They're often the ones missing the elusive "sensitivity chip" that makes for a decent lover and desirable companion-partner.

I don't know if it is strange,
but I can't stand it when I say thank you to someone in the answer back with "ok".
It's as if they expect your thanks.

I have learned never to address those people again, unless of course I wanted something, for which I now feel they are indebted to me, because they owe me an apology, not for not saying you're welcome,
but for their stupidity, assuming that I will give my thanks to just anyone.

Sit back 'cause this could take some time ...

First:

What I have noticed (which drives me nuts) is the "No problem" response. I despise it. What ever happened to: "You're (Please note where the apostrophe is. I'll be coming back to it, later) welcome"?

It especially ticks me off when it's said by someone in a place in which I'm a customer:

"Excuse me, miss, could I have some salt and pepper, please?"

She brings the items and I say "Thank you"

Her response: "No problem".

I would certainly hope that doing what you're paid to do - and for which I tip you well - wouldn't be a "problem".

I also have an issue with the server taking the little "payment folder" while asking the question: "Do you need change?" It, invariably costs them a small portion of their tip.

Now, I mentioned apostrophes ... People, can we PLEASE take five minutes each and learn how to use these freakin' things? I have seen so many people whom I believe to be intelligent make the stupidest apostrophe mistake's (Yes, it was intentional!).

Lastly, I suffer from a bit of C.D.O. I like even numbered things. I don't let it rule my life but I like the sense of "balance". My friend, Victor, was over last night and I explained that he was no longer a guest in my house. If he was thirsty, he damned well knew where the cups, ice and soda were.

Well, later on, when I was pouring myself a soda, I noticed there was an odd number of ice cubes left in the bucket. Horror! No big deal. I just threw one in the sink and returned "balance" to my ice cube bucket.

Your OCD response just activated an OCD response in me, DS. WHY WOULD YOU THROW AWAY A PERFECTLY GOOD ICE CUBE?
(Shoulda had your friend put it in his drink if you weren't drinking out of a glass yourself.)

I have a thing where odd numbers grate on me as well. Oddly enough, my favorite number is an odd one, but that's because "9" is special mathematically.
It may have to do with symmetry, and even numbers give "balance."
[/end OCD commentary...for now]

Unfortunately, you're mistaken, again. It's not "O.C.D.". It's C.D.O. because that's alphabetical (the way it's supposed to be)

I dislike odd numbers also. Except when I am arraigning things on a table/shelf. Then everything is either grouped in 3's or 5's.

My books, music, and movies are kept in alphabetical order. Yes I am anal about it. Call it OCD if you will, I like being able to walk right up and know where a certain one is located.

"No worries", which I hear more often than "no problem", is on my list.

Cabinet/closet doors and dresser drawers. Do not leave them open. And especially don't leave them open with stuff hanging out of them.

The one I get teased about the most is food. I do not like my food mixed together. I want my meat here, my veggies there. No need for them to touch. Anything like greens is put in a separate bowl. And please, please, please, do not serve me veggies mixed together. *shudders*

I have a list of pet peeves but one in particular, during a conversation, is a person repeatedly using the words "I mean" and "like".

I confess...I'm one of those people that often replies, "No problem," after someone says thank you. Some people seem to think it makes no sense, but to me it makes perfect sense. If someone says, "Thank you," it implies that they think I have gone out of my way to do something for them. But to me, if whatever I may have done really presented no hardship...or NO PROBLEM...and is quite often beneficial to me as well, then that is how I answer.

Etiquette requires you to say you're welcome.

Saying no problem to the fact that I am NOT welcome do your hospitality or aid, yet it is possible the next time I ask it may BE a problem.

Do you also eat all of each item before moving on to another? Do you eat all of your veggies first, then your meat, then another item. Or do you eat a bit of each item equally?

Ohhhh yeah

'Guys who think women...want to be treated how they want to be treated.'

While typing that, I knew I should have explained. No, the fact that a good many guys have a Crown-Prince complex (esp. firstborns & singletons) doesn't mean they automatically want to spoil us and indulge us. That would be overly logical even for a male and cause brain meltdown.

Speaking in general then, in terms of the average (clueless) male I.Q.

- They are convinced we want to be treated like sex objects because they themselves want to be objectified. It turns them on, so they automatically assume it's a turn-on for us. We must enjoy seeing strange random dicks/dickpics, after all.
(If they were us, it wouldn't be one-handed typing, it would be NO-handed typing. Too busy playing with T&P all the livelong day.)

- Men tend to negate any feelings of vulnerability and have a hard time putting their egos aside. Everything has to be a freaking competition - a win-lose mentality - whereas we want and work toward win-win solutions.

- Since men are fascinated by bodily functions, they believe we should be similarly interested in how they have harnessed their farting & burping at will.

- Seguing into their idea of romance is actually bromance--"hanging out" with their buddies, because that's how guys bond with one another (preferably pulling JackAss stunts or playing first-person shooter video games).

- Their concept of sensual massage is a hard-pressure shiatsu massage session. Heavy-handed, bull in a china shop approach to *love-making*--basically beyond their ordinary primal comprehension.

Need I go on?

Ok....if I found myself to be nodding my head through that entire list.....does that mean I should explore being a Domme instead of sub?

You could undoubtedly switch around as it suits you and give yourself more options. It would depend on what you want in a mate. Doms your age and younger may be more tolerant than "traditionalists" - that I can't say with certainty - whereas Dommes tend to be distrustful of male switches. I'm distrustful of all strange men, so it doesn't matter to me whether they call themselves a switch or sub--they're bottoms as far as I know until they prove themselves otherwise.

I do know this, I found it depressing to be reminded of how much I dread the thought of getting with a vanilla ever again.

It's just hard as hell to find any romantic gentlemen in this day and age. Chivalry isn't entirely dead, but there's never any guarantee a submissive male will be any more romantic than any other kind of man. I hate to say it, but they tend to act much needier than your average emotionally immature, childish male.
