So....once again....a (mentally ill) young man who felt spurned by women or life in general one too many times decided to take it out on everyone else around him by killing them. I suppose it's a good thing that this man only killed 6 people instead of 16 or 26, like he certainly could have.

But I'm curious....you never hear about girls/women doing this. Females get rejected by men all the time, lose their jobs, flunk out of school....they have the same life experiences that these mentally ill men do. Yet they don't grab a semi-automatic and kill everyone around them. But I'm sure that females who are mentally ill in this way also need some kind of "release" when they finally get to the end of their tolerance. But it never seems to make the national news.....so....what do they do?

There have been dozens of female serial killers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_female_serial_killers

They just don't tend to make the national news and when they do, it's sometimes to drum up pity. (see aileen wournos)

I'm reminded of a line spoken by one of the Mutants in Beneath the Planet of the Apes: "We are a peaceful people. We don't kill our enemies. We get our enemies to kill each other."

But that's a serial killer....someone who can kill 1 or a few of people at a time over an extended period while still (sometimes) at other times living what appears to be a "normal" life in between the killings. They don't usually do it all in one rampage episode. Ted Bundy killed lots of people....but he did it just 1 or a few at a time over a long period.....he didn't walk into a crowded place and kill them all at once.

I also loath and detest shopping. Strictly an A to B kind of person. I know exactly what I want, so I'm in/out when it's absolutely necessary to shop. A girlfriend invites me to go shopping? Sure, I'll go. .. it'll be the shortest trip she's ever made in her life and she'll never invite me again.

As for the question. .. Sure women kill, we kill all the time, but most of us are vindictive cunts and rather than just unleash on the world, or anyone in close proximity, we want it to be personal and take our time wreaking revenge on the person we believe has wronged us. I rarely see cases where a female has gone on an indiscriminate rampage.

Amy Bishop, The Deadly Professor

On February 12, 2010, neurobiologist Amy Bishop pulled a gun in her biology department meeting at the University o Alabama, and killed (allegedly) three people, wounded three others.

Jennifer San Marco

San Marco had a history of mental problems and strange behaviours before she killed a former neighbour on Jan 30, 2006, and passed through a heavily guarded security station into a mail processing plant and distribution centre in Goleta, California. There, using a pistol, the 44 year old shot and killed five people on location, with a sixth dying two days later in hospital. San Marco took her own life at the scene, and left no suicide note.

Serial killers are not the same as spree killers. How many female spree killers have there been?

Had you bothered to read the post directly above yours, you would have had your answer.

I hadn't gotten that far yet. So, only two? Do you really think it's just because they "just don't make the national news"?

Musicmystery -> RE: The female equivalent (5/26/2014 12:41:58 PM)

Look up the definition of the word "more."

I have work to do -- you folks can Google from here.

Mary Ann Holder Killed 2 injured 4
Delport, Callie, Killed 9 injured 19
Fugate, Caril Ann, and her boyfriend Killed 11
Tranchita, Rosario Killed 9 injured 4
Brenda Ann Spencer Killed 2 injured 9
Yvonne Hiller, Killed 2 injured 1
Cheetara Goldsmith, Killed 3 injured 3
Female German Attorney (name withheld) Killed 3 injured 1
Sylvia Seegrist Killed 2 injured 8
Laurie Dann Killed 1 injured 5
Amy Bishop Killed 3 injured 3
Jennifer San Marco Killed 6

*Side note* Oddly enough, women are more likely to poison someone before they will shot them. Women are less likely to get caught. And, yes, when women kill it tends to be more personal (meaning they take out the people they feel wronged them, family, children)
