As we age and our abilities change, it's easy to mourn the loss of our youthful bodies. This thread is for those of us wanting to express appreciation for the parts that still work!

I'll start:

Thank you to my knees. As many miles as I've put on them through hauling my ass around dancing, swimming, hiking, biking and twisting into a pretzel, they remain relatively painless and strong.

Thanks to my eyes. At 55, I can still get away with no glasses if absolutely necessary.

Thank you to my feet. My arches haven't fallen and they still schlep me around where I need to go.

Thank you to my hands. Though they're really stiff in the morning, by mid-day warm up they can play my musical instruments, brush the kitties and still twist the lid off a jar.

My butt. As far as I know it is not yet sagging.

My eyes are pretty. Thank you, body, for putting up with all the abuse I've piled on you and for feeling nicer since I've lost over 100 lbs now. Thank you muscles for being as strong as you are. Thank you feet for all you do for me, you couldn't carry me around if you weren't as big as you are. Thank you to my mind for not disappearing like some do w/ age. Thank you, hands, for being so creative.

You know, it was really difficult trying to think of these things. lol Thank you.

I'm grateful that I can walk, and walk fast, when some people have limited mobility. That freedom of movement is precious to me.

As someone who has battled cancer ovarian and otherwise I'm thankful to be in remission and to still have parts that are functioning. My body has been strong and allowed me to horseback ride competitively, play tennis, run and do yoga for the last 12 years! I'm thankful for my boobs, I didn't get them until I was like 18 and at 30 they're still awesome! I'm also thankful for my lips and my eyes my two favorite features. I'm thankful for my brain, by far my favorite organ.

That it is still working.

Blonderfluff -> RE: What You Appreciate About Your Body (5/27/2014 12:07:40 PM)

I am grateful for my sense of smell. It can bring back a beloved memory with one whiff of a baby blanket. I am grateful that everything is still working well enough that I don't have to think about it! I am pretty sure that eventually this will not be the case, and I appreciate that for right now.

And my hair. I have great hair.

I'm with you on the butt-appreciation with regard to my own. Once, a trainer in the gym told me that, the way I was using the butt-exerciser machine, I must have the strongest arse in Bristol. I've since been immensely proud of it and have naturally appended the gym trainer's accolade to my CV.

I must inspect this, personally, Peon.

Thank you my body...thank you that you are willing to let go of my fat at last (23lbs since february, more than half of it recently thanks to my new diet)...

Thank you my body for my boobs....I truly love them [:)]

Thank you my body for my nose...whilst I don't really love it's shape....it is working and thats all what counts....innit?

Tantriqu -> RE: What You Appreciate About Your Body (5/27/2014 1:48:04 PM)

Love my strong thighs, my eyes, my lips, my nips, my acute cute ears and strong touchy feely hands.
And other bits, but of course, my multiply-orgasmy clit.

smileforme50 -> RE: What You Appreciate About Your Body (5/27/2014 9:08:06 PM)

Hmmm......I have to think on this one....

I guess that it's all still working fairly well so far and that my brain has managed to keep me out of major trouble for 48 years so far....

Delilya -> RE: What You Appreciate About Your Body (5/27/2014 10:15:33 PM)

I am grateful for ears that have been forgiving of all the !Loud and Proud! heavy metal music.
For eyebrows that have never needed plucking.
For an ass that hasn't gone flat.
For a mane of thick, curly hair.
For boobs that still rock.

It changes from day to day but today it's my hair. When I was little, it was blonde but when I got into school it started getting darker and eventually looked like dirty water left in the sink too long. I hated it and dyed it when ever I got the change but that was a pain in the ass. Now that it has gone grey/white I really like it.

Perhaps because of all the time you have spent sweeping that roof? and I must say it looks good from here [8D]
