Is anyone watching the Fargo miniseries?

While sharing a great deal with the 1990s Oscar winning movie, and with the blessing of the creators of that, this is a new story, with new characters, and is a bit over halfway in the 10 episode run on the FX cable channel.

I'm enjoying the heck out of it, but WTF!?!?

It's ok, a little over done with all of the constant 'Yes, no's' and 'No, yes's' in their Minnesota kitsch. It's too many false starts in their speech and a purposeful inability to finish sentences.

The plot is good as long as it remains plausible but it now having been a year since the original murders...I am not so sure anymore.

Welcome to the forums, Pedestrian.

My wife says she never liked the original film, specifically because the regional dialect and accent drove her nuts. Here on the show, she seems to have developed a limited tolerance, but I'll admit that it rings discordantly in my ear sometimes, too.

The jump in the timeline was unexpected, a main subplot vanished, but unlike the overwhelming majority of the crap on TV, I have no idea where the heck it's going to go from here, and I've come to give a crap about the characters.

Two episodes left.

Goodie - I was looking for a new series to get into. I loved the film. The issue of the overdone Minnesota-speak won't mean a thing to me - it's all just 'American' to me this side of the pond.

Peon - if you get Netflix (and haven't already), watch the Netflix series Lilyhammer.

Yes, the Grumpy old men and the Fargo was rather overdone Minnehoovian like my british accent.

There are some places though, you come to the smelt fry with me in the spring, and you will see Minnehoovia.

Phoque no...I was there in august once upon a time. I tried to swat a mosquito with a canoe paddle and he took it away from me and ate it.

Well I think his point was that it's overdone, that's all. There is acting and there is overacting or maybe...over-scripting ?

yes, I watch it, its not really a fav of mine tho.. I have watched the movie (a few times) and was surprised that they were making it into a tv series.. wonder how many seasons they will be able to stretch this out to.. and I wonder just how far away from the "true real life story" it is..

It's a 10 episode miniseries, TJ (though it might stretch to 12 or 14 episodes for re-runs, since each episode runs about 1 1/2 hours of broadcast time).

I haven't caught this week's episode yet (love DVR) but the true story is that there is absolutely no "true" in the story. It just looks cool in the opening credits.

Now that I have watched all the episodes except the last two...the last one not having been played yet and the previous one still waiting for me to watch...I have to say this is my favorite mini-series of all time....The acting, the story/plot and the soundtrack have blown me away! It is one of those shows you never want to end but it has to. You really have to concentrate while watching it to get all you can from it though. I will say I never saw the original movie "Fargo" so have nothing to compare it to.

I love the opening music and here is a link to the youtube link that you might like:

We've made this far without watching the second to last episode, so the plan is to wait and watch both on Tuesday night.

That plan worked out well. Waiting between episode 9 and the finale would have sucked.

But what the hell ever happened with the grocery store guy???
