I found the actors reactions odd though. It was as if they've never had a show cancelled before.

I think some of it may have stemmed from the fact that Ted Neely is currently doing (rather successfully, I gather) JCS in Italy. It's an awesome show with the right performers (and why was Sebastian Bach doing it??? GAH!!), but as far as I can tell it has been touring to some degree almost non-stop since the beginning.

OK, nobody (IMNSHO) will ever do it as well as Ted does, and Carl's death was a huge blow to the Judas character (live up to THAT, dammit!!)

Sorry, I'm a HUGE JCS fan, and I think the cast for this production would have been awesome to see.

oh and yeah - given the money and production (from what I could glean), it appeared to be a sure thing as far as at least the CHANCE to flop after a live show or three.

I was lucky enough to see the live show in 1972. It made a big impact on my life, one that has never been forgotten. Even my grandimps know the words to the songs. I'd love to be able to take them.
