Crouchingtiger77 -> America Ninja Warrior (6/2/2014 7:37:59 PM)

I find this sports competition to be one of the best sporting events in World History.

This includes so many other skill sets, and incorporates other sports in the mix.

I would hope this would catch on in other nations and then become an olympic event.

Thanks
Tiger

I was busy babysitting my niece and we had to watch Pokemon...did a woman win a space?

Yes...Kacy Catanzaro, only 5 feet tall and 100 lbs., was the first woman to summit the warped wall!

Looks like a cute faux sport Japanese style game show.

You could call it a lot of different things, (and I think it did start in Japan), but the fact of the matter is that it takes people in superb physical condition and ability to be able to compete. The competition has been going on for several years now, and so far no American has ever been able to complete the entire series of events. And last night was the first time any American woman has ever even completed the qualifying event! "Faux sport"? Maybe. As far as I'm concerned it is much more of a "sport" than something like golf. To each their own.

You're up next!

I couldn't make it past 99% of those obstacles.

While I will watch it when I can, I have to tell you that the American version of Ninja Warrior PALES in comparison to the original Japanese version. When it was syndicated in the US as Ninja Warrior it was very good (and still is!), but the actual name is Sasuke (pronounced sos-kay). Google on youtube and watch the episodes and snippets you find there. You will see how the American version has been wimped down. I will however agree that it is still one really cool competition.

Kacy Catanzaro does it again! First woman to complete a finals course. Amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfZFuw7a13E

I did go watch a few of the Japanese videos. I didn't see them as that much, if any, more difficult. Some even looked easier. Did you watch when the top 5 Americans competed against the top 5 Japanese? The Japanese were heavily favored, but the Americans actually won rather handily.

Kacy is badass!

I've been a fan of the show for so long, I'm also psyched Sam made it :)

Yep. He's had some bad luck previously. He seems to be a very likeable kind of guy.

I have loved to watch this show for years! I like the fact that it is not easy at all and they give bios of certain regulars...I even watched the original Japanese show a few times where they also had English announcers telling what was happening...I am happy that a few women are making it past the warp wall too this year.

What is cool is that the course has not been made easier so that more women can do it, but
they do it from hard work or even if they don't make it, they attain to their own level of
ability without standards being reduced like in the dumb downed version of women's tennis,
2 of 3 instead of 3 of 5 for men for one example.
