according to the link DomKen posted he plead guilty... so no trial.. just jail time..
I have been saying the US has become a police state, but of course I get blasted for that.. told its not, blah, blah, blah.. You think this is the end of fair trials? that started long ago when the US govt made it law that they could confiscate your money and assets just cuz they think you could have gotten it from doing something bad.. they call that asset forfeiture and with that you don't even get a damn trial, they don't even need to charge you to take your stuff.. You are forced to either walk away or spend tens of thousands of dollars to hire a lawyer to get your stuff back.. the Institute of Justice has plenty of examples of this (as well as abusive use of eminent domain).. and then there is unlimited detention, which Obama signed a year before his re-election.. then there is the whole NSA mess.. Maybe if Americans stood up against that asset forfeiture law years ago, the Patriot Act and other unjust laws you would not be going down this very slippery slope.. it will be hard to stop now.. no one is standing in their way.. they can label anyone a terrorist or a criminal or a traitor.. so why would they stop now?

You are right tj as in WTC 93, there was no trial...only guilty pleas and the trouble is...it doesn't matter, the congress is going to do what
it wants in any case, just like TARP and war itself.
I was talking about the guy who DomKen was talking about, the wiki on him (Zacarias Moussaoui).. he is in jail for his part in 9/11, no chance for parole.. But the guy you are talking about.. yeah, they kicked his lawyer out.. its just like unlimited detention where they can hold you forever, never let you talk to a lawyer or your family, never even charge you.. you just sit there and rot.. they may not even tell you what they think you did wrong..
I got an unpleasant brief taste of that years ago when my hubby (back then) & I wanted to go for a day trip from BC to WA state.. at the US border we were told to pull over. The took us inside and locked us in a closet-sized room without telling us what was going on.. we were locked in there for what seemed like a very long time. I suspect we were being videoed and anything we said to each other was tape recorded, so we said very little (just a natural reaction to being locked up like that).. When they finally let us out they questioned us and finally let us go, all without telling us why we were held like that.. We finally guessed that the only difference between that time and any previous border crossings (which were uneventful) was that a few weeks earlier someone stole our vehicle license plate so we had to go to the cops and report the theft and get new plates (which had a new number).. the cops said it was probably kids that took our plates to go riding in an unlicensed or stolen vehicle.. Anyway, there was an article in the papers that said new vehicle plates was a red flag to the US border guards looking for pot dealers. Each time I crossed the border after that I was stopped with about the same treatment.. I think it took about 1-1/2 years for them to finally stop stopping me.. That was just to cross the border.. With a suspected terrorist, they go 2 or 3 hops, anyone can get caught up in their net.. so people that think they have nothing to hide so nothing to fear.. well,.. they don't understand that if they are on a list they could easily have something to fear..
