Officially under the knife. Driving 7 hours to visit him tomorrow...made me promise not to tell Mom (whom I'm taking with me tomorrow a.m. for a "nice getaway....you and I haven't spent enough time together")...she'd freak....it's a BIG operation and he's her oldest....could very well die before we get there.

But he said "DO NOT TELL HER!!!!!"....so, I respected my brothers request and told her "we're just gonna go surprise him and say "heya"".

Should be a good drive. My Mom's a fucking loon, funnier than shit. No matter what happens, it'll be a good memory.

Just hoping my brother's still alive when we get there.

(He owes me 12 bucks....and I intend on collecting).

Best wishes for your brother. It just doesn't seem like the greatest idea to keep this a secret from your mom, loony though she may be, then spring it on her when you get to the hospital parking lot. And if your brother is that much at risk, don't you think she'd want to know that? And if he gets mad at you for telling her, throw him a bone and forgive the $12.

Strengthen Lookie's brother, O God, to do what he has to do
and bear what he has to bear; that, accepting your healing
gifts through the skill of surgeons and nurses, he may be
restored to usefulness in your world with a thankful heart;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Book of Common Prayer

You're doing the right thing, and your mom will always appreciate that you went to the trouble to soften this blow for her.

I am also the type of person who won't break a promise or go back on my word.

Your brother knows you well enough that he'll appreciate your creative approach, sooner or later. You would want him to have done the same.

To guide you on your journey, and may it be a fortuitous one:

I think you're right on the informing Mom....and I was thinking of kind of drifting into that about an hour away but....the 12 bucks.....that was cash.

Sending positive thoughts and wishes your way even though I don't personally know you. I hope everything went as well as possible.

He made it.

(Didn't have the 12 bucks on him. Looks like offensively high interest is in the cards).

I got it all on the drive home.....7 hour drive felt like a 9 hour drive with a mad woman.

(Still loves me though :) )

How could she not?

But something tells me the loon doesn't fall far from the tree.
