What would bdsm be like if instead of this internet view of subcultures within a culture diversty spread out across the globe it was all based in one city or country. How would it be different? Is bdsm different depending what nation in or is there a set standard we have online. How diverse is this lifestyle a confused mix of beliefs of many cultures or one core belief system?

BDSM is as diverse as the universe. There are different sections and organisations, but the core is individual pleasure - individual realisations - individual needs and desires. Even if it was based in one confined area, groups would still splinter off - its human nature. Peace and Rapture

Sure but what makes the diversty for it to be diverse it needs to have different views standards across the world. Which has half answered my question.

Across the world - across states and county lines, makes no difference. The diversity comes from individuals - not from across countries only. Peace and Rapture

BDSM will always be Diverse because all of what we do today is a combination of rituals and traditions taken from many different cultures from around the universe that exsisted before Internet .

my point was about the internet since its creation we are able to share the diverse views never been able to see before, its hard to say how far reaching it is as many nations out there many view points we only see a fraction from online still allot to learn. ok thanks for your asnwers.

Since there is no apparent "order".. there is chaos. There USED to be an order.. but people have a tendancey to keep what they like then discard the rest then cry bigotry if you don't agree. Lotus

I have no answers it was a passing thought i am though more interested in the responces. Two diverse views i have noticed nihilism based everything is chaos to set a set rule structure people want to follow. i am more chaos based. Which seems the flavour so far in this debate.

In BDSM - people from different cultures mixed even before the internet. People travelled from countries to others - shared much knowledge. I think the internet never altered that - but maybe speeded up the process. Life moves ten times faster via the web after all.... Peace and Rapture

Well the majority of people in the world dont use the internet, its still a minority pass time. Which i wondered how many believed the internet reflected life generally. Which puts a different spin on what bdsm really is if we dont know what the majority of the world is doing. But i am rambling if any op reads this from collarme why wasnt my spiderman picture approved?

( My point of view ): The cyper world did help merge many subcultures together - yet it as well seperated many thru fabrication .That's when chaos starts to evolve it divides causing no common ground for any Culture to stand solid . The cyper world is great ;but again many cannot see clear with the chaos and fabrication of truth that is present.. All in All people must challenge thier very own knowledge level and learn away from cyper and go to the library and research, talk to others of difference ,travel away from home ,and more . Sometimes a bit of leg work is best ......... To understand any form of Diversity
