Thanks for the compliment on the pic I posted FieryOpal....the pic you added of your past kitties looks like it was made for a Hollywood romantic photoshoot...what a great pic!

MistressDarkArt,

Thanks for the compliment regarding Gnocchi's name and what a pretty horse you have..kind of like the Dalmatians of horses or vice versa as I am sure the horse came first....26 years old...wow!

Thanks for the compliment about my Gnocchi..... I have since learned, after I named her, (from the Curious George cartoon cat named Gnocchi) that Gnocchi is many dumplings and one dumpling would be in Italian Gnoccho but I still call her Gnocchi!)

Wow you have a lot of pets MistressDarkArt..Your two tabby cats are so cute!

They Remind me of my only one other cat I ever had who was a grey tabby, Pill Bailey. He died when he was approximately 18 years old years old as I wasn't sure of his age when we found him on a golf course here in Brentwood.

I had a kitty who was the spitting image of him, down to white lips & chin, and eye color. Misty had a grey wolfish look about her, a kind of "Don't even think about messing with me" look.
Loved catnip, though, and got really affectionate and sociable afterwards.
I'm sorry for your loss. If only cats (and dogs) had as long a lifespan as we do.

Wonderful kitty, otter! I had 2 that lived 18-19 years, and even though it's been nearly 5 years since they passed, I still miss them so much!

When you have animals for almost 20 years they become part of you and your life and when they are gone they take part of you with them.

April was my food checker. Every meal she had to check out what I was eating and she would let me know when she wanted some. Turkey and roast beef were her favorite and I had to cook her a small hamburger, she wouldn't eat burger king or McDs. As you can see in the pic she was chubby then. I started calling her chubby and little fatty, then one day I noticed she was slim. I took her to the vet to see if she was sick. $150 later she was in perfect health, the vet and I came to the conclusion that she had simply put herself on a diet. After that I noticed that she was eating less and not eating as big a portion of my food.

Since she had spent the majority of her life getting up at 6am like I did, after I retired she continued to request breakfast by coming in my room and crying every hour on the hour until I got up. Of course after she had breakfast SHE went back to sleep.

Niki was my buddy. He fought for and owned both sides of the street for 3 houses in each direction and would make his rounds every morning. I tended many of his wounds in the early years, although the vet treated him many times too. He learned that I or the vet would fix him when hurt. Near the end I could see in his eyes him questioning why we weren't fixing him then and after many trips to the vet in his last couple of months he let me know he didn't want to go there anymore.

Both cats in their last trip to the vet I think knew their lives were ending. Neither could do much anymore and accepted their fate allowing the vet to do his thing without any resistance.

After 7 years I still don't understand Misty.

That was really beautiful and touching, and I'm so very sorry for your losses. Btw, who is or was Misty?

Was your April an outdoor cat at times? It's possible she had a furry companion and became dispirited when her buddy disappeared (or moved away). Just speculating in the event her lack of appetite wasn't caused by a detectable condition or illness.

(Just a reminder, if applicable. When you checkbox "Embed picture in post," remember to click onto "Click here to upload!" to make your p.c. pic upload selection. We've all missed that step from time to time, I think.)

I know what you mean MistressDarkArt.....That is one of the reasons I don't get any more pet rats like I had when I was a teenager as they really don't love that long and it is too sad when they die within five years of getting them!

Misty is still around and is the don't touch me unless I want to be on your lap.

All my cats are indoor outdoor cats. Niki was a year old when I got April and they produced one litter of 5. Even though Niki would sneak off and disappear some days, "I vant to be alone" he and April were best friends.

Misty came along, and April let her know that she April was the alpha female. Niki and April would eat together from the same plate but April made Misty wait.
April and Niki had been together for ~14 years when I had to take in Misty, so misty was sort of accepted.

Thanks, I wish these programs were more consistent on uploading stuff.
