SavageFaerie -> Ghost Stories or things that make you wonder (7/10/2006 12:55:42 PM)

A post just got me thinking.  I personally believe in ghosts and entities of that nature.
I grew up  in a house that had a dark shadow that would appear on one side of the house hallway. One niece would have conversations with when no one was close by and when asked who she was talking to she stated that dark man, battery operated clocks with the batteries removed would change time, usually in the wee hours when just hanging out or partying the in the living room. We would purposely change the time sometimes just to see it change.  Never felt any threat...just a we share our house with other kind of mindset.

Does anyone else have stories they would like to share?

I've heard Art Bell mention the ''Shadow people'' {similar to what you've mentioned} on numerous occasions and then of course others call in with similar stories. Do you ever listen to the program; I think it has over five-hundred affiliates?

Up where my family homesteaded, in the borders of Yosemite National Park, my cousins still own a cabin that we are allowed to stay in for free. There is a back room where my great aunt and uncle stayed when she took ill because the kitchen wood stove was right next to it. There is also a door that has a latch that locks in this room that leads to a garage type structure where my uncle was building his own airplane before my aunt died.. he worked there so she could call to him, this door would remain open when he was outside.

I would check the latch on this door several times a day when we would stay there because if Iwalked away and came back the door would be open. It would happen even when I was alone there. I would always check the lock on the latch.. it wasn't faulty.

Same house, different side where most of the bedrooms are.... I was sleeping one night and the overhead light came on. There no one in the room but me, the house was still as it was like 3 am, so no one else was awake to play games with me... that really kinda creeped me out.

I also think that alot of people are just more sensitive to it, especially children.  It runs in my family.

My mom took a paranormal tour in New Orleans once.  They went to a house that used to belong to slave-marketers. They were notorious for torturing them.  There was a well in the enclosed courtyard where they were often kept and displayed.  My mom let her fingers skim the  surface of the water and got a blast of fear, brutality and suffering.  The tour guide noticed her crying and after my mom related what happened the guide said she has witnessed that from others and wouldn't go near the fountain. The fountain had not at the time been discussed by the tour guide.

Myself, I believe that some people encounter things.  I don't believe them to be ghosts, but demons.  My reasoning behind this is that I do not believe that anyone's soul is left to wander earth after death.  However, demons can and do exist here.  It probably gives them the giggles to mess around with people.

Denise,

I have heard you talk about your house.  How old is it?

Evanesce -> RE: Ghost Stories or things that make you wonder (7/10/2006 8:14:37 PM)

It was built in 1901 or 1902.  I'm not sure exactly when it was completed, because I have a copy of a letter from the original owner to the architect/builder dated May 18, 1901, in which he discusses reversing the layout of the kitchen and dining rooms.

Just curious....just having one of those cant put my finger on it moments...if you know what I mean.

Rumtiger -> RE: Ghost Stories or things that make you wonder (7/10/2006 8:20:14 PM)

I doubt ghosts like me very much, the curenderas always said I required special protection from the other side ever since I was a baby, they told it to my mother and grandmother when my mom was pregnant with me, and again when I was just a year old.
