I think what is being referred to here is how China, Russia, Austrailia, Japan and others are making deals to accept each others currency for international trade, bypassing the need for US dollars.

Right now, The dollar is the world standard for international trade. Countries trade their currency for dollars to pay for their oil, raw materials, etc. Thus, they must keep a large supply of dollars on hand. that makes the dollar important. As soon as these countries make solid deals to accept each others currency. The dollar will be exposed for what it is. Paper backed by nothing with no demand! Countries will no longer need to keep large amounts of dollars on hand and exchange them for their own currency. This will cause a super oversupply of dollars and like any commodity, when there is a large supply and no demand, value drops.

The finiancial papers are warning how this could cause a drastic drop in the dollar's value almost overnight. stay tuned.

Thanks for pointing out the links, Lucy...I should have clicked around on the links provided in the article instead of running to google

I am thinking if G77 has been around for 50 yrs or so, that they must be having hard times as much as the rest of the world, and have decided the US is the general antagonist (and I guess some can say that may be true, as it was our Wall St that initiated the "great rip off".

Zonie63 and MrRodgers thank you for your opinions too. My panic has subsided and I'm back to calm and collected

Papassion, maybe we should take Ron Paul's advice and trade our dollars in for gold!?

With the pattern over the years I guess it would be ghost currency. Worth something in the afterlife at best.

The $$$ wont always be the top currency in the world, it will demise at some point as did the £££...

Incidently the Gulf war was in part due to Saddam preparing to sell oil for Euros and not Dollars.
