Crossing party lines may be the left's (compromising's) only hope for some seats. At least by this...it seems like it. Here Cochran the repub incumbent defeated McDaniels, the Tea Party backed state Sen. for the Miss. senate seat's repub party runoff. I wonder of these same voters will turnout for the election on Nov. ? If they do, Cochran could be in trouble.

The precinct level returns in Hinds County bolster the theory that a surge in black, *Democratic* turnout allowed Senator Thad Cochran to defeat Chris McDaniel, a Tea Party-backed state senator, in last month’s *Republican* primary runoff in Mississippi. Mississippi law requires that in order to vote in a Party primary the voter must intend to support the Party's nominee. Are those Democrats are going to vote for Thad Cochran in the Senate race? Meanwhile, interestingly enough, Tea Party candidate Chris McDaniel cast a vote in the 2003 Democratic primary. K.

This is insane. The districts got so gerrymandered that the primary means more than the general. And a wacko that would never win a normal election nearly upset a moderate Republican, who now will owe his seat to Democrats. This ain't how elections are supposed to work.

Well before Righty starts screaming conspiracy, consider that it would be in the best interest of minority voters, not to mention all voters, that the T-nut took the primary, since that would give the Democrats a shot at the seat. The dems are amateurs, the reoubs have done this several times. Miss, BTW is an open primary state.

You know, I think the black dems are simply voting for someone who they trust rather than following some marching order from the DNC. This guys been in office for a long time. That means voters will cross party lines to keep him in office. This is a good thing not a bad thing.
