In this conflict, more than any other, we have a 'western' civilized country with a full army and nuclear capability in a conflict with what many deem as 'terrorists'.

See as terrorists?
How old are you?
They are terrorists. Do you know what my first memory of an Olympics is? Munich. Men in black on balconies and my mother crying.

You mean, do we need more proof than some clown calling her names? Well yeah.

Yes Ken, we know they are terrorists! [8|]

But.... Israel is not behaving any better is it??
Their behaviour is even more 'terrorist' than the terrorists!! [:D]
But of course, you refuse to see that.

Just look at the death and injury stats.
Israel are killing civilians indiscriminately on a 25:1 or better ratio.
That is my argument here.
Nothing whatsoever about supporting Hamas and their treacherous rockets.
I don't see what Israel are doing is anything short of genocide on a limited scale.
I am also not saying Hamas would do the same - if they could (but they can't).

As I posted earlier - even the mad fuckers of Hamas aren't killing anywhere near as many civilians as Israel is.

And just because I'm seeing both sides of the coin (which you refuse to do) and both sides are dirty, doesn't make me a Hamas supporter.
It's that age-old "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" bullshit again.

I don't like, or support, either side; they are both as bad as each other.
But, I also don't believe all the one-sided clap-trap being espoused by Israel to the world media.

Yes it is, Israel is acting defensively. Israel is going after Hamas' offensive capabilities.

You are the one who is acting no better.

You really expect the Israelis to just lay down and die... Allow Hamas to fire rockets at Israeli civilians relentlessly with no counter attack, without seeking out and destroying the tunnels that are used to smuggle the rockets in.

I wish it were as simple as that. lol.

The Arabs didn't like a lump of their land being given away to the Jews.
The Jews don't like the Arabs because they feel that Jerusalem belongs only to them.

They both want to rip each other's throats out.
Neither side think the other should even exist, let alone flourish or have a working economy.
Never the twain shall meet. [:D]

And because neither side will give an inch to the other, this will only end when one absolutely crushes the other into complete oblivion.
Israel have the capacity to do that and are slowly achieving that goal under various nefarious guises.
Hamas don't really stand a chance but they are tenatious blighters and won't give in.

What worries me more than anything, is if other Arab nations start supporting Hamas just because they are Islamics and if that happens there will be an all-out religious war between the Arabs+Islamics against Israel+US and other christian nations - which will undoubtedly draw in even more Islamic countries.
Slow fuse to a big bang!! WW3 maybe?? Who knows; it has that potential.

I don't see that Israel is being 'defensive'.
It is taking major offensive stances - that ain't defense!!
It is even deliberately attacking civilians.

"You really expect the Israelis to just lay down and die..."
And you want the Palestinians to do the same thing??
Oh right. You are taking the Zionist PoV.
You think that Palestinians should be wiped out. Got it!!

The tunnels generally go to Israel - so they can attack Israeli military units (they showed that on a video - they did NOT attack civilians).
They don't usually smuggle the rockets from Israel into Gaza - or do you have a creditable link to support that premise??

There is a lot of biased and preconceived thinking here, and has turned the op into a contest for deception and half-truths. Facts have been distorted, misrepresented, twisted, exaggerated, or taken out of context. You'd think we are in the middle of an election campaign.

Truth, as the saying goes, hurts and no one wants to hear things that makes them uncomfortable.

I understand about the difference between Northern and Southern Ireland, you should explain this to the IRA. Still this has nothing to do with Gaza and there is no parallel.

Maybe that's a matter of opinion. The IRA have trained the Palestinians and provided weapons to them in the past. Clearly, they see some sort of shared cause.

when did the IRA train Palestinians?

Possibly wrong here. I know the two shared ideas, and it seems that it was the other way round in that the Palestinians trained the IRA. Still the same outcome/point I was making in that these two see shared goals.

I'm not really that interested in this issue, which is why I had it the wrong way round. The best thing that could happen is that they just get on with killing one another. People must be bored with this lot by now?

Anti-Semitism is/was far from a German issue. In actual fact, Jews were well assimilated in Germany prior to WW2 and the French have had a real problem with this issue in modern times, not to mention the pogroms of Eastern Europe which were pretty much a free for all in terms of robbing Jews and inflicting violence upon them. Also, I've just been to Norway and during a visit to a museum learned that the Norwegian government rounded Jews up by their own free will and handed them over to the Germans who only got involved in administering the ships leaving Norway for some death camp somewhere.

If they hate one another so much then it's time they got in a big field somewhere and had one monumental shindig with last man standing wins. If not, it's time they gave it a rest.

It was one of the biggest issues in British politics for 50 years, and a lot of people in England, namely English liberals, supported Irish Home Rule.

World War One was seen as a welcome interjection as the issue was polarising British politics and generally being a pain in the arse.

It was coming because there was a groundswell of support for it in England, and Liberalism and radical politics was on an even keel with the conservatives around that time in a way it hadn't been before.

Did anyone notice that the Saudi King says that Hamas is at fault.
Egypt is blockading because of how extreme Hamas is.
Neither of these nations could by any stretch of the imagination be considered Zionist stooges.
On top of this (Tweak to the contrary) of the two only Hamas is dedicated to genocide.

well here you go

The blockade of the Gaza Strip refers to a land, air, and sea blockade on the Gaza Strip by Egypt and Israel from 2007 to present.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_rocket_attacks_on_Israel

History

2001–06

Main articles: List of Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel, 2001 and 2002–2006

Rockets were originally fired mainly on Sderot, an Israeli city on the border of the Gaza Strip.[37] Sderot's population density is slightly greater than that of the Gaza Strip. Due to this, and despite the imperfect aim of these homemade projectiles, they have caused deaths and injuries, as well as significant damage to homes and property, psychological distress and emigration from the city. Ninety percent of the city's residents have had a rocket exploding in their street or an adjacent one.[27]

On March 28, 2006, while Israelis went to general elections, the first Katyusha rocket from Gaza was fired at Israel. The rocket fell near the Itfah kibbutz on the outskirts of Ashkelon and caused no damage or casualties. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.[38][39] Several months later, On July 5, 2006, a rocket hit the center of Ashkelon for the first time, striking an empty high school. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the attack, which was claimed by Hamas, an "escalation of unprecedented gravity",[40][41] but the event was quickly overshadowed by the 2006 Lebanon War.

On 25 of May 2006 the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades group that published on April 2006 that they had been launching long range missile on Israeli cities,[42] sent a letter to Ramattan that they had developed chemical and biological weapons and threaten with chemical warfare.[43][44][45][46][47] later that month report of use of chemical weapons by that group had been published in the media.

But is only newsworthy when Israel strikes back.

BamaD -> RE: The current middle eastern crisis is Israels fault... (8/2/2014 7:58:54 PM)

But, as I have demonstrated (and provided links) when Bama made this claim, the fact that daily rocket attacks didn't start happening until Egypt and Israel between them made the total blockade of Gaza.
Israel alone are the ones that are vehemently and doggedly enforcing the blockade on land and sea.
I do not see you providing any creditable links to refute this position.

In one paragraph you admit that both the Egyptians and Israelis are blockading Gaza then pretend that it is only the Israelis. Is this because if they are being treated as the prime threat to stability by Arabs your view of the situation falls apart like a house of cards?

I see. So, the Israelis and Palestinians are fighting over oil?

No, they're fighting over their religious beliefs, the rest of the world cares because of the potential disruption of oil out of the region. You DID ask why the rest of the world gives a fuck, right?
