The truth is the truth it needs no arbiter.

In your worldview, yes...probably. I'm done.

Clearly

thompsonx, all you need to do in order to quote somebody is place the word quote with a square bracket before and after it before whatever text you want to quote and then place /quote afterwards also surrounded by square brackets.

Like this except with no periods: [....quote....] some text [..../quote.....]

If he followed your advice to use simple quote tags, the result would not identify who was being quoted.

Even easier is to select the words you want to quote is by clicking and holding down on the first word, moving your mouse to the final word of the section you want to quote, then clicking the quote box above. 'Select text' and click 'quote', in short.

That was me trying to be helpful not condescending you've been here what....8 years, at some point you should probably learn how to make it so your posts aren't borderline illegible.

Then why is it you practically always leave off the poster's name whenever you quote him/her? [:-]

(Pardon my mild OCD tendencies talking, but it often gets on my nerves when reply-posters do this, not just you, babe. :)

FYI, I'll have you know that one of the first subs I started exchanging messages with starting doing this with our correspondence, and when I asked him about it, turns out he was a forum fan: "You know, like thompsonx does."

I had no freaking clue what this guy was talking about, but there you have it--when you have a distinctive style, it becomes your unique signature. [sm=cool.gif]

Eh? I've always assumed that people will take it as read that any quote I've used is by the person to whom I'm replying and as indicated bottom right, unless shown otherwise. No?

Well, show me an example of where I've quoted and it's not been clear, and I shall strive to mend my ways!

No need, you're allowed to have your own style, too. [;)]

My posts are not for morons.

Unlike GS, *I* don't look down on you for not quoting people properly, thompson. It's just that I want to help you look less plebeian by getting it wrong, that's all. [:)]

So we're done with this thread, then?

Because it's devolved to how posters use or don't use quote boxes...

What's next, the spelling & grammar police? [:-]

Hey, this could segue into: Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone....

Heh. I'm waiting to see whether thompson grills me, or laughs. Or maybe both. You can never really predict it with that lad. [;)]

It's not a matter of looking down, he's been complaining that people don't deal with his positions for a while now, I thought not taking steps to make his posts unintelligible might help [sm=dunno.gif]

*Shrug* Fine with me, though I suppose we could talk about this:

I would be the wrong person to ask. Greater minds have pondered these mysteries, and greater minds will undoubtedly continue to further their hypotheses, theories and beliefs. I can only weigh possibilities and probabilities and come to my own conclusions, where applicable.

On the one hand there's a well thought out, well evidenced theory on the other as assertion about how vegetation could exist before the sun and before the existence of the carbon necessary for the existence of vegetation. From my point of view that doesn't make for a mystery, the winner of these answers is terribly straight forward. That you haven't reached the same conclusion, well isn't that exactly what a "difficulty distinguishing fact from fiction" would look like?

Do you have any links so that I, and others, might take a look-see?

I don't have any problem understanding tx's straight-forward posts. There isn't anything 'unintelligible' about them, unless you happen to be unfamiliar with the subject matter. [:)]

More accurately it is morons who fail to deal with my positions people,on the other hand, have no problem understanding my positions.
