There are clearly people vastly smarter than me who have run this site for some time.

You guys are smart.

Why don't you re-write this gig to be a Facebook kind of gig (sorry....don't know how that's done).

Seems to me that it's fairly simple to (I could be wrong) write a new script to be a mix of Facebook and FL.....gold....cashola.

Sorry...don't know shit about what I'm talking about...just tossing thoughts out.

Remember that new site I told you about? They did a mix just like you describe. But one of Arpig's less charming socks is busily ruining that site as we speak.

Fetlife's attraction to the social media people seems to be the lack of a search function so the frequent posters (or anyone else) don't get buckets of spam and HNG mail. FL's huge failure is all the less than comfortable posters-on-forums(Groups) stay hidden in the back pages of members in their area (too many to shuffle well?) and don't get squat mail/invitations/approaches and the site is dysfunctional for all of them. But the advertisers see the membership numbers and the browsers and the cash flows. Somehow FL has about 5 to 10 times the membership subscribing from my state as here. Which doesn't seem how people would best find partners and play or more formal D/s?

You have to be careful on Facebook. There is a guy on there that has a page where he tries to help people who are new or just has questions about the lifestyle. No matter how careful he is people report him for stupid things and Facebook deletes his page. People can be stupid and report images and posts just because they can. The last thing that was reported was someone asked about knife play. That got his page reported and shut down.
The secret groups are a bit better, but it is still easy for trouble makers to get in and start shit. It all makes me wonder how many people have yet to realize Jr High was over with a long time ago.

I don't know if I'm allowed to mention this, so I won't name any names, but on fet, there's a new thread where someone very close to the "old" site is opening a new site and has the audacity to ask for donations to get it started, lol.
