Oh and to answer my own post. I never found a slave in person. But then again I'm not really a social person.

All of my slaves I've had I found online, and we took it off line when they became my slave. Sadly, I moved to a pretty remote area and this is pretty much the only way I can find them around here.

In my experience -- and maybe it's just that I attract this type of woman, perhaps -- women tend to be naturally submissive (though they don't necessarily know it).

So, I look for someone I genuinely like and enjoy time spent together and who likes me and likes to be with me.

From there, she appreciates being with a man who can make decisions, stand up for himself, not be needy, lead when necessary, etc., generally a contrast with men she's dated before. I hold space for her to be the woman she is, and she responds to that by curling up into that submissive space, happy to be who she is.

When I found my love, it's someone I've known for years, but we never really had the chance to connect personally before. She loves that I'm comfortable with her being an intelligent, capable, independent woman in the world, and yet my girl in our relationship. It's what she's always wanted. And I get a beautiful and devoted partner, lover, and friend.

In short - be who you are. Enjoy people for who they are. The rest will shake out in time.

I found my slave at the Renaissance festival. There tends to be a healthy kink contingent there, but he wasn't looking for a domme - in fact, he told me on our first date that he didn't think he could submit to someone he loved. I'm so glad he was wrong!

I'd found my two previous submissives online. But I've found parties and munches to be far easier. I can gauge compatibility in person, and can even play with a prospective.

My last 2 subs were met on line, but not here. (They were vanilla-ish dating sites. Before then, I had a D/s marriage.) The first one around my age turned out to be a dud, what I now know to recognize as a vanilla fantasist wanker who role-plays at being submissive. I didn't take the second one seriously when we started exchanging messages because he was 10-11 years younger than me, and I didn't think he would be emotionally mature enough or that we'd be in compatible life stages. Lucked out with him. He got transferred and I'm not relocateable, at least not for another year, even if I wanted to.

If you've been on CM long enough, you know there are many great women here with lovely profiles and eventually there is one that catches your eye, you're drawn to something in her eyes and her smile and if any of you go back that far you will remember tammy's earlier profile picture and that was the one. I wrote her a cmail letter telling her why she caught my eye and talking about me, about my background, my hobbies and asked her to write back all the time suspecting she gets a lot of cmail ( and she does, I've seen it) and apparently she read them all back then because she wrote back the next day and told me about herself, her kids, her interests and soon we were talking on the phone. I found my submissive here. Read some posts that she had put on the boards, emailed her, traded insults for several years. I finally wore her down with my persistance.

It took some time, but if you hang in there, be yourself and be honest, you will eventually find the one meant to be yours.

my owner found me on cm... told me i was made for him for years and i scoffed, we eventually met and dated and he courted me old school style, i scoffed some more but ended up moving in with him then running off again for work then before eventually saying 'fuck it why fight happiness' and nowadays he means the world to me.

Good for you. There's a saying that nothing worthwhile comes easily (or words to that effect).

There are too many men who take a laidback approach when it comes to women. I call it romantic laziness. There are also men who are sexually lazy. They want everything handed to them on a silver platter.

The way I see it, if a man won't actively pursue what he wants, and underachieves in this area of his life, then in what other areas of life is he also an underachiever? And then will he be lazy when it comes to working at a relationship by making the woman knock herself out trying to make the partnership/marriage work?
