All this despite 99% of the media acting as the propaganda arm of the DNC

No, you halfwit. You don't poll one guy while he is in office and all the rest after. You take them all at their low and high points while in office and out. Compare apples to apples not oranges. No president has ever been as unpopular as W.

Sanity -> RE: Congressional Dysfunction 101 (8/1/2014 2:02:55 PM)

Keep telling yourself that dk

Repeat it 'til you believe it

Poor Barack. It must feel so lonely and desperate being the most hated president ever, even more despised than Jummuh Cottuh

Sixty-eight percent of Americans disapprove of President Obama's handling of the issue of immigration

mnottertail -> RE: Congressional Dysfunction 101 (8/1/2014 2:17:49 PM)

He is nowhere near as despised as, W, Nixon, Reagan, Hoover, and so on.

I think he laughs at nutsackers, and could not care less.

Here's why Barack took time off of his grueling golf schedule to spend a minute raging at Republicans today - he is desperate for the billions that he has been demanding to fund his high end undocumented Democrat suites and vacation centers

http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/08/01/immigrant-detention-center-has-hair-salon-for-women/

American citizens aren't even afforded this kind of luxury from their government. But hey - nothing for the best for Barack's pet future Democrats!

It's a shame that some half-baked Americans have such a poor opinion of Obama.
Outside of the US he's reasonably well-liked.

"As the global economy begins to rebound from the great recession, people around the world remain deeply concerned with the way things are going in their countries. Less than a third of the publics in most nations say they are satisfied with national conditions, as overwhelming numbers say their economies are in bad shape. And just about everywhere, governments are faulted for the way they are dealing with the economy.

Yet in most countries, especially in wealthier nations, President Barack Obama gets an enthusiastic thumbs up for the way he has handled the world economic crisis. The notable exception is the United States itself, where as many disapprove of their president’s approach to the global recession as approve.
"
In Muslim countries, he's not doing so great though.

Yeah, Europe likes to fund al-Qaeda, supports terrorism against Israel (the Nazi salute is back in vogue in many European capitals), and they did love that far left nutcase Barack

But today, the honeymoon between Europe and Barack is clearly over

Nope. We don't.
What we DO say is that Israel is going waay OTT against Hamas and deliberately targetting innocent civilians - including children. That is completely unforgivable and indefensible no matter who you are at war with.

Errr.. Nope!
In most countries and especially sporting events, the Nazi salute is considered a racist gesture.

I just can't see how in the world the house stays in repub hands,

The main downside of gerrymandered districts is extremism without the consequence of being unseated. Many Congressman are untouchable incumbents. Cantor lost in VA b/c he was not extreme enough.

just read Sanity's and Theheretic's posts to see a distorted reality. The same types of voters felt the country was going to hell under CLINTON, when the USA was all peace and prosperity. Today we have stability and competence in the White House, but the far right believes we're falling off a cliff.

A child refugee crisis to them is "an invasion." Defaulting on the US debt is a "good thing."

What a laugh riot

This presidents approval numbers are nose diving over his amnesty / no borders push

Least popular president in modern times

These conservatives are pushing the popular consensus

Leftists are heading into an election wherein they are going to get their asses handed to them and have the Senate taken away

Then you will get the "do something" Congress that you have been whine and cry for

Least popular?
Are you unable to compare numbers?
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_obama_job_approval-1044.html
41.7
W's lowest
http://www.gallup.com/poll/116500/presidential-approval-ratings-george-bush.aspx
25%

Not only was there nothing higher than 38% from 10/06 on for Bush but since may of 13, the house approval had been 23-25%.

I just can't see how in the world the house stays in repub hands,

It's called gerrymandering [:D]

cloudboy -> RE: Congressional Dysfunction 101 (8/2/2014 7:53:11 AM)

"More broadly, Congress has given no indication that other major issues of the day will be confronted this year, even on matters where members of both parties agree urgent action is needed. The immigration system is still in crisis. Companies are renouncing their American citizenship over tax breaks. The Highway Trust Fund is running on empty as the nation’s infrastructure crumbles, and entitlement programs are creaking under the weight of an aging population."

We have anarchists (without hearts or minds) in Congress.

DomKen -> RE: Congressional Dysfunction 101 (8/2/2014 9:45:08 AM)

Consider this
The SS retirement trust fund is in good shape. So is Medicare, the ACA really does work at least in that regard.

However the Social Security Disability Insurance trust fund will be depleted late in 2016. The Social Security trustees have been telling Congress about this at least since at least 2003. Congress has done nothing. SS disability is not something you get if you've never worked. This is strictly for people who've worked their whole lives and then something happens and they can no longer work. It's the very definition of the kind of social safety net a functioning society should have and ours is about to run out of money.

You would be correct in technical terms and in terms of the responsibility of congress to hold the federal ledger in proper balance to achieve those financial safety net goals. They have not. The so-called SS trust fund while a separate fund is full of unique and particularly suited federal govt. IOU's.

This was precipitated by the exec. and the congress under R Reagan for the Greenspan reform of 1983 and ever since...squandering an estimated $2-$3 trillion over payment to only partially mask 34 years of continuing federal profligacy. Thus the so-called trust fund has about as much trust as society trusts govt., in the first place.

Conservatives, liberals and independent all raised hell stating in fiscal 1983 because the so-called reform was based on the tripling of payroll taxes. Congress thus owes the American workers and retiree about $3 trillion and trust me...they ain't got it and ain't going to go get it.

The same holds true for SSI (disability) which adds to this unfunded liability. And so it goes for the very successfully competing greed and selfishness of the American capitalist held so dear to his incentives.

Please don't confuse me, I'm campaigning on an anti-Obama platform and doing a lot of TV spots on the same. My constituents love it -- it's like snorting crack cocaine. Social Security, national infrastructure, immigration, and foreign policy issues taste like overcooked asparagus to everyone....

Hey, I did put forth legislation to deregulate pesticides. Hell, **I** have to be for something!

When I come back to Washington, I'm hoping for some Benghazi and IRS hearings. Meanwhile I can proudly say I refused to vote on 26 State Department nominations including the ambassadors to Guatemala (child refugee crisis) and Sierra Leone (Ebola virus crisis.)

If the IRS had targeted leftists under Bush, or Bush had been caught sneaking in illegal Republican voters that would harm the country as a whole, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc, the leftist riots would make the time they assaulted the old folks attending the Minneapolis RNC convention look like a cakewalk

Once again, without their hypocrisy leftists would have nuthin'

I read today that Obama has only vetoed two bills this session.
