Ken what do you consider mass? because if its more then 3-5 people being shot.. weve had 11 in the last month.... if its more then 10 weve had 4 in the last 6 months.... more then 15 2 in the last year

And this is just locally not across the entire country....

That's right you had mentioned Philly before.

I stay out of the city if I can help and when I cant Im never alone even then I carry, we recently had a fairly large gang incident... guy shot up a house killing like 8 people because someone did something that caused him to loose money.

We have no only philly but camden chester coatesville upper darby regular darby wilmington..... you would think with how often they shoot and kill each other there would be little left....but sadly now its moving in to nicer areas, we just had a guy kill his ex wife and kidnap his kids 4 blocks from where I live....

In another thread someone described shooting a man who forced his way into someones house as mass killing.

Darby, that is where the shrink had to shoot one of his patients cause the guy started a shooting spree isn't it?

quizzicalkitten -> RE: Must have used a knife (8/10/2014 12:21:03 AM)

A man broke into a womans home in wilmington recently, they arrested her and are trying to make it seem like she went out of her way to shoot and wound not even kill the attacker... like the world is ending because she defended her home...

Your situation is worse than mine, I want to say that up front so you wont think I'm playing "I got it worse than you"
When I first moved here it was a nice neighborhood.
But a little over ten years ago we got overrun with drug dealers, crackheads, and gangbanger wannabes.
I got mugged in my front yard 9/11/01, you can see why I remember the date.
I haven't gone outside unarmed since and have had four "confrontations" each ending with the troublemaker running as fast as he could as far away from me as he could get.
Last year I was adopted by a year old Rottweiler, nobody wants to mess with him.
About the same time the PD started giving our area a lot more attention.
Recently a house across the street from me that was always rented to thugs, the cops got sent there at least once a week, was bought. The new owner fixed the place up and has sworn to bring in a better class of tenant.
We have almost taken the area back.
Hopefully something like that will happen in your area or you will get the opportunity to move to a civilized part of the country.
An example of how our cops approach these things.
A friend of mine was a security guard and was attacked by two thugs.
He shot one in the leg, the other got away.
When the cops showed and the thug started yelling about being shot they told him that my friend for not killing him.

quizzicalkitten -> RE: Must have used a knife (8/10/2014 1:23:07 AM)

I started carrying after nearly being raped, the cop that took my sa report recommended it.

I live in a decent part of the area, theres a fairly low crime rate, and aside from the occasional outlier we are fairly peaceful, we also have one of the largest and diverse townships in the country and the police are an amazingly good force within the area. They have to deal with a lot of crap in some parts of the township, but they do it well and with skill that is aweinspiring.

They also care, Ive never been treated better with my interactions with them and they have never complained when they had to do something that was "beneath them". After my SA a cop came for a solid week and either sat in my driveway or across the street so I knew he was close by if I needed him, or if the guy came back (the assault was in my home) So in that regards Im lucky, Id love to live in different parts of the country but sadly crime is everywhere, and moving wont make it magically better. Id rather go to the range at least once a week and be with cops who care then in an area where it might take them 10 or more minutes to respond.

That is how I felt about it when the area bottomed out.
So I can respect that.

what does this have to do with the fact that gun free zones don't work.

That it is nonsense of the worst sort. millions of gun free zones are violence free every day. Just like millions of places that welcome guns. That violence occasionally occurs in both kinds of places, and it does, proves exactly nothing.

Actually it proves that having a sign saying "no guns" isn't necessarily going to stop people from bringing in guns. If it did we could just post "no crime' signs up everywhere and let the police go home. problem solved.

Didn't you try and verify the link before posting it?
But the Kleck and Gertz study isn't of mass shootings so you simply wrong.
It is of so called defensive gun use and it is self reported through a phone survey so no one knows if any of those "events" actually even happened. It is a terribly flawed survey that produced results so completely at odds with all other data that every one but the gun nuts ignores it.

I had used it before and it worked.
It is only at odds with the Brady bunch and the Bloomberg liars.
Kleck and Gertz started out to prove that gun ownership doesn't help.
The only argument you seem to have is to attack any who don't say what you want them to.
Your claim that there have only been five cases of armed citizens stopping attacks is silly. I can beat that number off the top of my head.

No they did not. They were always gun rights guys. You need to get your facts straight.

I have read your posts and you do not quantify what you consider a mass shooting, i consider 3-5 people getting shot a mass shooting, however I know some dont consider it Mass until its over 15 bodies being hit..

So if you could quantify what you consider mass, we can go from there to see why your "data" is just so small "it cant be quantified"

Because on the 4th of july weekend over 60 people alone got shot in Chicago... That seems kinda mass to me as well in one of the most strictest gun law cities in the country....
