Hello everyone,

I was not sure where to post this, so I will try here.

We all have run into, either online, or off those that have been less than honest wbout their photos, gender, status, etc.

We belong to another site that allows members to validate other members that they have actually met in person.  I know that it is possible that someone might make a false profile to validate another profile that they have on a site, but the more validations that people include about them, the more sure one can be that they are indeed what the portray and really do exist as the present themselves.  It think this will help possibly to prove the genuiness of people.

Perhaps if those of us that meet others can validate them in our journals it might help other members that are thinking of pursuing a relationship with them in whatever aspect.

Just a thought.

Best Wishes

we have a meeting forum to do this in here.

juliaoceania -> RE: Just a thought (7/11/2006 6:48:29 AM)

I belong to the same site that you mentioned above and  I would not take those validations as meaning anything personally. It is much easier to have an eventual phone call, or pc to pc voice chat. If you have found them valuable, then I am glad for you, but personally I can see a danger in taking testimonials on face value.

A grand idea that is bankrupt in wholesomeness,

Against TOS.
I will have the Moderators validate that I am a significant pain in the ass and an asshole of intergalactic proportions...and I can call that upon myself easily...

Insofar as others validating my profile, I suppose I can go dig up the password of the girl that I have diced up that is cooking in the aqua regia barrel downstairs and put on her profile........

'Wow!  That Ron was real alright!!!!'

It is of inestimable irritation, falsely secure and unmitigatably unfair to attempt such a thing in the end.

We must at some point do it the old fashioned way, wade thru the flotsam and jetsam and lukewarm bodies to get to the finish line.

Sincerely,
Ron

twicehappy -> RE: Just a thought (7/11/2006 6:55:42 AM)

I still would not trust that entirely though there are a few here we (we meaning all in our house) will refer someone to privately if they are interested in meeting and ask for references. My owners also tend to use the local munch group as well as subs/slaves they have had in the house previously.

We have a forum, Positive Experiences, where people can post about other CollarMe members they have met.

I could get ten differnt emails, and post ten different acounts on a server that meant not a damn thing. And give myself glowing refferences from each one.

How do you validate the validaters? ::shrugs::

There just aren't any shortcuts to the process, sadly.

And have you ever seen anyone offer a BAD refference?

I would have to answer - yes to that question (even though it wasn't aimed at me).  And by the same token I would have to also say that just because one person validates and gets along with another is meaningless to me.  I may have no 'click' - I may find them vulgar or too harsh - or even visa versa.  Validation has merit but its a vicarious act and for me - means absolutely nothing.  I prefere to make my own decision.  That way, I cannot blame anyone for a mistake that is ultimately mine.

SweetSarijane -> RE: Just a thought (7/11/2006 9:35:30 AM)

I wouldn't trust it personally. Shortcuts like that are more apt to backfire, etc. Better to take time to get to know someone and use your instincts and experience to judge if they are good, or right for you. Not everyone who isn't right for you (generic you)  is fake, etc. Too easy for people to use that type of thing to attempt to ruin the credibility of someone they just don't happen to like.

CrappyDom -> RE: Just a thought (7/11/2006 11:01:09 AM)

I can spot who has actually done this shit and who is blowing smoke well enough for me. In addition, if you rely on actions rather than words to prove someones worth you are much better off.

For me, if someone can't spot that I am real, they may need other proof but I already know all about them I care to and could care less about what they think of me.

incognitobynight -> RE: Just a thought (7/11/2006 11:47:17 AM)

Some years ago, I joined a site that required that you send a photo ID of yourself and you were not allowed to join until they checked you out.  I actually participated in that.  At the time, I thought it was a good idea.  Sure there were ways to get around it.....just send in some poor unsuspecting persons photo ID....and you're in .  But, what I found was that the membership stayed pretty low; I think most people were pretty reluctant to give up their anonymity.  That site is still around and they no longer have that requirement.  I visit it from time to time, but prefer the raucous party atmosphere of Collarme.

mnottertail -> RE: Just a thought (7/11/2006 11:52:43 AM)

You're pretty cogent for a 99 year old, kiddo.

Nothing can replace meeting in person for a good old fashioned face to face talk, a talk on the phone or on skype.

I would give a bad reference based on My own personal sessions with submissives who play games.

I would be completely honest to a Sister Domme who asks about any worm that uses Me for a reference.I would hate to see someone waste their time with a submissive that plays game.

Not doing so is betraying a Trust amongst the Masters/Mistresses

At the same time I wont post in My journal about someone specific.
Thats just being catty in IMHO.

The point I was making is that if you gave a bad refference, and the one seeking it knew-you would never be mentioned.
