i agree!!! it is worth the money to have someone else rip the hair out of your crotch.

that being said, i am almost finished with laser brazilian and legs. i am sooooo happy i have done this!!!! YES, it's expensive, but the results are amazing!!!
(also, it doesn't really hurt...or i have a high pain tolerance. imo, waxing hurts way way more)

For anyone in the New England/Boston area, there are day spas in New York City where it costs about 400.00 to have your pubic area's hair removed by laser, which seems like a VERY good price to pay to never have to wax, shave, or sugar again!

Hot wax is great for eyebrows. Aside from that, I cant stand the stuff. More trouble than its worth, and the wierd red patches it causes are almost as unattractive as the hair it was getting rid of.

If this has been stated previously, I apologize. I only read the first page.

First of all, Waxing, if not done correctly can be more harmful and cause more "injury" than the skin burns that may occur with some of the depilatory creams. Not *everyone* has an adverse reaction to the creams. I would suggest trying it on a small area and seeing how long you can bear it. You may want to leave it on longer than is suggested, because it usually takes longer than what they say.

As far as waxing, the only experience I have with that is on my face. I have been doing my own facial waxings (eyebrows....ok...yes....and the upper lip) for years. First of all make sure you use an antiseptic cleanser on the area first. Usually one is provided in the kit. This removes all skin oils so that the wax will work well. Then apply the wax in the direction of the hair growth and pull off in the *opposite* direction, without pulling upwards, but as level to the skin as possible, while holding the skin taught with the other hand. It is best to have someone else do this for you, considering the area you are doing. I would try this on a very small patch before slopping up a larger area with wax. Another thing with hair in the pubic region is that it tends to grow in several different directions, so all the more reason to do small areas at a time, working each section in the direction of the hair growth. I dont have a set of balls, so I have no idea how harsh this will be. But I would seriously consider a cream before waxing in that area. keep in mind , if the cream starts to burn, you can always rinse it off. I personally shave my pubic region, but it has to be done daily, where the creams will keep you smoother longer. I have used them and not had a problem, but usually shave.

Oh ....and if you do use the wax, any residue remaining can be removed with any type of oil. I usually use lavender oil, because I love the smell, but any kitchen oil will work too. If you go the cream route, Gillette makes a cream remover specifically for mens hair. It works pretty damn good down there, because it's made for coarser hair. When I have used it, I have left it on for about 20 minutes, which is about twice as long as they recommend (10 minutes never seems to be enough), and Ive never had a problem with it. When rinsing it off, rub it with a washcloth to really encourage all the hair to come off.

As far as trimming first. If you're going to wax, you really dont have to trim it that short, unless its very long, but if you can get it down to a half inch or so, it will make it much easier to work with.

i only started waxing at the beginning of this year. i too, use surgi and alternate between do it myself and professionally done. please read your intstructions again because in my pamphlet it warns against hot baths two hours before and after waxing and to also avoid direct sunlight for 24 hours after. i don't mind doing it myself but you have to work quick before the wax hardens completely.

and please, yes trim it down to the 1/4'' length, trust me on this one. *grin* you'll be cursin' and grittin', i guarantee (especially if you work slow)! there are some areas that are more delicate than others and some places that are quite difficult to get to and that is why i personally go to a specialist every other time. you have to pull it off going against the growth, and exhaling while doing this makes it a little more bearable.

the lady i see, will do everything but the scrotum on a man and she just worries about hurting them because she hasn't been properly trained in that area *wink* if you call salons and ask, they are more than willing to direct you to somebody that is qualified. one question to be sure and ask before getting started...."do you like your job?" it's a good ice breaker and if they don't say yes, seek out somebody else.

another thing to remember is to not over hydrate yourself until afterwards. meaning don't drink a lot before waxing, the body does retain water and this can actually cause skin to lift with the hair and also enhances the pain of it all.

good luck and enjoy the after affects! it's delicious.

p.s. don't use too much of the oil either because the wax will fall off and not capture much of the hair.

Do people actually remove other people's hair as part of a scene? I suppose that's not so odd, but I guess I never considered that people would want to do that or considered it erotic, alhtough I had heard of it I guess. I guess it could be erotic, couldn't it? O rmaybe just messy. Depending on the mood and method, I suppose.

WOW....... Must be nice to live in places that have such services. Me and a friend spent hours calling places to ask if they did a Brazilian wax. (Living in the middle of a cornfield like we do). Not only were we amazed that no one did it....we were astounded to find out some of the women that answered the phones at the salons didn’t even know what it was. (Perhaps they don’t have cable). Even those that listed as full service when it came to waxing were lost. Finally we found a place and off I went to get the deed done. I have shaved for years but decided to give the wax thing a try before a play date with that special someone.
It was painful but, the benefits outweigh the pain. I tend to get a 5’Oclock shadow so to speak. I am here to tell you that there is NO WAY you can get it this smooth EVER with just shaving. Not to mention the affect lasts for WEEKS!!!! Smooth as silk I tell ya. She has since visited another salon and then at a later date made an appointment with the same girl that did me. She has since informed me that one salons ummmm “technique” is much less painful then the other. So I guess I will be driving farther next time.
Perks up at the laser thing (as it is permanent) .... Wonders how much THAT would cost and yeah......good luck on finding THAT around these parts. Also wonders how many treatments it would take?

I thought I heard someone mention $400, which seems like a small price to pay for a lifetime of freedom from shaving, frankly. I am not sure about number of treatments - one doesn't seem out of the question, though.

Looking into it on the net right now and this is the 1st thing I pulled up

Treatment cost varies with the size of the area treated. Experienced laser centers, which have developed expertise in laser hair removal, generally average about $500 per treatment session, with an average of four treatment sessions initially recommended. Large areas, such as the entire back, or the entire legs, cost considerably more than this. Small areas, such as the upper lip, can be less. Individual consultation with the laser center is necessary to obtain exact pricing.

I didn't think just one treatment would do it.
