While these would be great on a bdsm website where you choose this and know what it is about, I think it sucks big time to have it in main stream areas where no one asked to get bdsm thrown in their faces - including children! I think people - including small people - should have a chance to decide for themselves without being influenced like this.

I don't see any Bondage, Discipline, Sadism or Masochism in any of these ad photos. So how is this getting BDSM thrown in peoples faces???
Confused as to what your are taking about. Is it the nudity you object to?

egern -> RE: Is this advertizing ok? (9/15/2014 2:12:55 PM)

Men clothed and women nude or semi nude is not a normal power balance. That is why I call it bdsm.

SinFix -> RE: Is this advertizing ok? (9/15/2014 2:37:24 PM)

Looks more plain olé sexy half naked women to get men to buy things ads and nothing to do with power exchange or bdsm

shiftyw -> RE: Is this advertizing ok? (9/15/2014 3:07:08 PM)

Is this surprising?

It's not BDSM, it's just half naked ladies being objectified to sell suits.
Welcome to 2014?

I can call an apple a golden retriever. It doesn't make it bark....

Your idea of BDSM is vastly different from most people's, I think.

As a small person, you don't speak for me. [8|]

In all seriousness, I see no BDSM here. At most, the company is trying to cash in on the 50 shades trend, which is pretty damn mainstream these days.

Face it, we are influenced by advertising every day. That's the whole point of the ad industry. And sex has been a common tool for advertisements since the beginning. I see nothing different or especially shocking here.

Please define a "normal power balance." By your logic all of human history can be classed as BDSM.

FR

People seems always concerned about children and nudity, are children really bothered by nipples? When I was a child I just couldn't get malice, and I could not care the less about a naked woman, I cared only about lego or ice creams. My grandmother used to make me watch this late night topless quizz show to make sure I'd be grown up stright, but I just don't remember it, just a funny story of my childhood my parents told me.

by the way if you think

Slightly off topic I remember this advertising from when I was 6 and I got it many years later (if you wonder what they say, the teacher asks "whose this?" and the students "it's mine") I just couldn't figure out what was the problem those people had. I remember I was scared by this one, even if I could not get it, just for the colors, and it was porbably the right feeling.

Can I play?
Man acts like the boss but is scared to even think something that could upset his lady, 'cos she'd deny him sex for a long time if she senses it?

PeonForHer -> RE: Is this advertizing ok? (9/15/2014 5:23:48 PM)

Marketers going for 'shock value'. Nothing suits them better than to have their pisspoor 'campaigns' argued about in the press. Yes, they're annoying adverts, to me. Mainly, though, these days, though only thing I really think when I look at such ads - if I think anything at all - is 'what a pathetic way to earn a living'.

MercTech -> RE: Is this advertizing ok? (9/19/2014 4:22:22 PM)

Those type of advertisements really stick the product in my memory as a company to avoid like the plague.

I find myself, over the years, much less encouraged to buy a product based on advertising but much more likely to avoid a business due to obnoxious advertisement.

I have not set foot in a Quzno's since their singing sponges.

MariaB -> RE: Is this advertizing ok? (9/20/2014 6:22:05 AM)

The adverts are cut a little too close to the cloth and certainly not to my taste, but hey, they got a load of free advertising which is every advertisers dream! Its not the advert that sticks its the name; which means negative advertising sticks just as well as positive advertising does. Many a small thing has been made large by the wrong kind of advertising.

As for it being BDSM...nah... not at all. Its just sexual.

Their subs taste as bad as their restaurants smell.

This says to me:

If you (a man) buy our suits, you will be more desirable to the opposite sex.

That's kindof what advertising is all about. I think your grasp of BDSM is on the same level as your understanding of advertising. Sexist? Yeah, sure - but sex sells and there are a lot of douchebags who wear suits.

I think you've got it pretty much covered.

The only observation that I would add is that the ads are clearly targeting a particular demog. The feckless 20 something white dude who, because he has fuck all else to call upon, thinks that dressing up will attract the opposite sex.

I have to work with a slew of these vapid fuck-wads and I can see this kind of advertising being super effective with them.

Bless their dimwitted hearts.

On the upside, it's lovely to see the hurt and confusion on their faces when they find out that a weather-beaten old dude like me is fucking the brains out of the one super smart and super hot woman in the office they're all dressing to impress.

If it's an apple tree, it indeed does bark.
