I said hardly,but he works all day, theres hours at a time I don't hear from Him. She's currently laying on me. No. I don't ignor her completely either, i am availible, i just don't speak much. You are absolutely ignoring her. A dog is the embodiment of submission, and once you earn that submission it comes with great responsibility. I don't think it's psychological as much as physical. I'd bet it's arthritis. If you don't talk to her, but do sit on the floor and pet her, is she happier?

She does seem to like it when we get on the floor. Thoughwe usually do talk to her when we do come sit down. I often wonder what a human voice sounds like to a dog. Sure, they recognise tones. They know when we are praising or scolding them, they know when we are happy, angry and sad, but when we just babble on to each other it must sound like we are constantly yapping. It must be like an irritating long drone of noise that they just eventually get used to and put up with. I just called my dog and spoke to him... ya know, just general like. I told him about the topic on here and that we needed to make a cooking plan for next week (we have guests). I told him we would be having beef for dinner and he would just be getting his regular dog food and he looked at me with an absolutely blank expression on his face. He neither wagged his tail or did his regular happy little dance; he just looked unemotional before wandering off, leaving me, still in mid sentence talking to myself. Sometimes that dog reminds me so much of my husband [:)]

You know, I took my talking dog to a bar one night. I was pretty hard up for a drink and told the barkeep that if he gave me a drink he could ask my dog any question he wanted and Stray would answer. He chuckled, and said, I tell you what, I'll ask a primer question and if the dog answers I'll give you a drink. I said sure: Barkeep: Stray, how has life been treating you? Stray: Rrrruuuuf! Me: There it is, where's my drink? Barkeep: You and your dog get out of here, I'm not playing your games. Me: No, really, watch and listen. Stray, what grows on tree's? Stray: BARK! Barkeep: GTFO of here! Me: Look man, ask her any question, seriously. Barkeep: Stray, who was the greatest baseball player that ever lived? Stray: Ruuuth! hehe [:D] I've just got to post this one now! A guy is driving around the back woods and he sees a sign in front of a broken down, shanty-style house: "Talking Dog For Sale." He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there. "You talk?" he asks. "Yep," the Lab replies. After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says "So, what's your story?" The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. "I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. "I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired." The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog. "Ten dollars," the guy says. "Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap??" "Because the dog's a damn liar. He never did any of that shit."
