Okay, so you've probably heard about the Afghan soldiers in the U.S. who went missing and turned up at the Rainbow Bridge. This is my stomping ground. The Rainbow Bridge is about a twenty minute drive from me. Hell, it is entirely possible that I may have driven or walked passed them on their way their. I'm not certain how I should fell about that. How should I respond. Should I . . .

1. Go Full Blown Paranoid. THE MOOSLIM KENYON INFIL-TRAITOR IN THE WHITE HOUSE IS ALLOWING MOOSLIM TERROISTS INTO 'MERICA! I'VE GOT ME GUNS! SO BRING IT ON! GO AHEAD AND TRY SOMETHING YOU WEIRDO MUMBLING BROWN PEOPLE! GO AHEAD AND YOU'LL MEET MY SPECIAL FRIEND WHO I CALL "MISTER BLASTY!" GO AHEAD AND TRY IT! MAKE MY DAY! MAKE MY WHOLE FUCKING YEAR! USA! USA! USA!

2. Completely ignore it. If I don't Think about it, it can't possibly affect me. I think I'll watch the New Big Bang Theory on tonight.

3. Keep Calm and Carry On. Presume that I don't know all the facts (it looks like it was an defection attempt) and wait for more information to come out. Also, realize that there is no immediate need threat so I can continue upon the normal course of my life (as a bonus, that means I still get to watch the new Big Bang Theory).

NOTE: Actually I have two special friends that I call "Mister Blasty." Both of them are pump action.

ETA: I'm actually going to go with option three.

Afghan soldiers, huh? How would folks on this site react if they were Canadian soldiers, one wonders?

Well, since a lot of them come down here to buy stuff that's unavailable in Canada before they ship out overseas, not very much. I had a nice chat with one at a local gun shop about a month ago. I'm not too worried about them, nor of the Afghan guys who went AWOL. Frankly, I understand why they did it, and while I don't condone anyone going AWOL under any circumstances, those guys were faced with some tough decisions to make in returning home after the training was over.

What's really sad is that they didn't want asylum here, but in Canada.

They were in the U.S on a training mission so I'm guessing that we'd be under a legal obligation to return them to Afghanistan when the training was over.

I live just outside a city where a man was trying to leave to join Isis.

I got want-to-be terrists that I'm driving past.
