If people can do something with relative ease, they will do something. Why can they do so in this case, I hear you ask? A fundamentally unbalanced cost-benefit equation, that's why. Let's look at costs first. We have barriers to action: what can we do to make an action harder or more involved? In this instance, all we have in our arsenal: an email address, and easily pilfered photos. Read: 30 seconds of their time. Then we have the consequences of the behavior. At worst, the OP's, and his likes', consternation. With our barriers to action and consequences known, we have the costs of our equation. What do they have to gain, namely the benefits - possible $$$s. Ergo, predictable results. And lest we not forget, some people just do shit for fun. My fun involves Panthers, but each to their own idiosyncrasies, I say ;) And if it all seems too much to bear, OP, take heart from humanity's inability to eliminate the heinous - genocide, ethnic cleansing, pantherphobia - and societies inability to control the psychotic and the violent - murder most foul - and we put our little issues on CSpace, into some well needed context. The more experienced of your peers use the heady lens of skepticism as their weapon of choice, until YOU can prove them otherwise. So get with the program. I like to end on a happy note, as always. Deus ex machina - we have morality, philosophy, and principle to save us from on high. And balance our little equation they can.
