Can you take a dom seriously if they're shorter than you?
This is for science! :p

Actually, it probably would have been better in ask a submissive, but I'm at work and I was concentrating more on the tiny touchpad on my phone than on the most ideal venue. I was like, "where should I put a poll? Hey in the polls forum". :p

Also, after further thought, I realize I asked the wrong question :/

I voted yes. I wouldn't look at height or any physical characteristics when deciding if I can take him seriously or not, I would look at his demeanor, attitude, does he have what it takes "for me" to take him seriously as a Dom.

Yeah, my own experience reflects that. What I should have asked was something along the lines of "would you examine a doms profile if he was shorter than you".
Maybe I'll try again, with the right question in the right forum :p

My sub of three years is two inches taller than I am. My previous sub was one inch taller.

That said, I dunno if Tasha takes me seriously...

I have had the problem, but I have a surgeon who reduces the height of my subs to ensure a perfect fit.

And nothing makes a sub more devoted to you than Height Reduction Surgery. Anyone interested -- I can recommend some great clinics in Nigeria, Somalia and Iran.

Oh indeed. My first sub took me seriously, and she had 8" on me. Like I said, I should have focused the question more on profile viewing/searching

Take them seriously? Yes, if they had the characteristics of a dominant - as InHisHeart said above.

Would I date him? Likely not.

If I were searching for a Dom, height would not deter me from reading his profile or contacting him if I had an interest in what he wrote.

If I were three feet tall or less all you sluts would be groveling at my black patten leather brass buckle clad feet. I'd be the hottest LepreDom you've ever had the honor of seeing. You'd be tailoring my spiffy little leprechaun clothes till your fingers bled just to get my attention. Don't kid yourself, that is how it would be.

Now, what makes that so funny is my nephew has osteogenesis imperfecta and uses it as a woe-is-me crutch. He is immensely talented and does not utilize any talent, using his disease to justify his drug and alcohol addiction. After many retarded episodes I tell him and my mother that my hands are washed clean of him, years trying to teach that boy to fish... my mom says, you just don't understand, how would you feel if you were born a midget?

I said I would be the coolest fricken leprechaun that walked the earth. My ego would be so friggen huge that the earth would tilt on its axis. She thought about this for a good long while, considered all the stuff I've been through and said... see, you don't understand because you make everything, no matter how bad, good. You'll never get it! I say, don't wanna.

At 6'4" I don't have much choice, unless I become a WNBA groupie.

That is sad. My brother is pretty severe autistic or Aspergers, not sure, he was never diagnosed. But he is a fairly well functioning guy and has ALWAYS held a job. He got his drivers license in his 30s. My parents never told him he couldn't do something and always encouraged him. As a result he can not get any government disability, but on the other hand he would be able to support himself if need be. He has before. He still lives at home in his 50s, pays rent. The rent is used to buy IRAs for the past 30 years. He will be in a good position hopefully at retirement.

How awesome. I'm of the belief that life isn't measured or weighed by your accomplishments but by the # of obstacles you have to overcome.
To OP; I agree that height is not a factor in recognizing a D, if anything it would be fear of divine retribution of the rope being turned on me. All those years of sadism? Yikes!

KY, that gave me a good dose of happy. I accepted the whole crutch thing while he was in his teens and early twenties, but now he is in his thirties, amazingly talented musician, but prefers to stay wasted because the crutch has been his friend for so long.

Osteo is a bitter sweet disease. It does terrible things to your body... he is type three, so he is 6' tall, but has broken every bone in his body at least three times. The sweet part is, most people with ostea are exceptionally intelligent, often talented, and very abstract. Things that stymie us are usually child's play to them, kind of like Aspergers kids. Unfortunately, he clings to the better and ignores the sweet.

ET, thats too bad. He is choosing that path and in his 30s, there is probably nothing you can say at this point to change his frame of mind. A talented musician not using his talent is particularly sad. As I am totally unfamiliar with that disease i am limited as to what I can comment about but it sounds pretty shitty. But as with many things in life, fight or surrender are your choices.

Wth my brother, he has zero social skills. He wants to have a conversation but all he can do is talk AT you. Regurgitating facts or something he read or heard. The give and take of a normal conversation is beyond him.
