ORIGINAL: SeekingTrinity ~FRing it~ This is a good time of year here. We haven't hit the liquid sunshine phase yet and it's not boiling hot out either. And the leaves turning from green to red, yellow, and orange is fabulous :) Right?! quote:
ORIGINAL: ExiledTyrant Not particularly. I'd rather not spend the winter in the wicked cold, but I'm choosing to... much to my chagrin. in my neck of the "woods",we don't really get wicked cold, just unbearably hot. I hate the heat, but much to my own chagrin,I remain where it regularly gets to 120 degrees every gawd damn year... you know it's officially too fucking hot out side when you see a lizard panting... quote:
ORIGINAL: JstAnotherSub I just want all the fucking mosquitoes to die. Then I will celebrate fall. I wouldn't know much bout those..I live in a desert, and it's a lil too dry fer the buggers but have you ever tried using a flame thrower? does wonders against other pests, haven't had any solicitors come to my address for months quote:
ORIGINAL: InHisHeart Fall is the worse time of year for my asthma but even with that, it is my favorite season. The down side of Fall is knowing what's waiting around the corner and I'm not looking forward to the white shit falling from the sky. Unlike most of southern California,it actually snows out here with some regularity(and the mojave covered in a white blanket is quiet a sight) Even after it's snowed thou,I'd hardly call it cold, most of our winter days are in the mid 40's,and it drops significantly at night, but we're close enough to the equator to still have a few good hours of sun light. but it actually gets alot colder after the snow has melted(round February, when we get insane windstorms, and our spring is something else all together, one year it got to 120 in late February and snowed two feet on april first). I'll take snow over hail anyday, even if it means that I'll be stuck up a mountain for a week or two(our county road service is a joke,it takes weeks for road crews to remove mud,and or snow from even our main highway, most the time the snow has already melted by the time anyone's gotten round to plowing it off the roads) quote:
ORIGINAL: satw I'm in Florida. I'm not really looking forward to Hurricane season. But hey, party on! Enjoy those leaves!!! I am looking forward to making some fall type dishes. There is a butternut squash ravioli I make which is awesome, so it will be nice when the winter squash start showing in the stores and I can make it. our crazy "the weather wants to kill you" season is (mostly)spring, which is also when all the foreign tourists come out coincidentally but it varys on how far into the desert you are you see, there's desert, and then there's "FUCKING Desert" in the desert, you'll see wild life and shrubs every where you look, the weather is nice a pleasant most of the time(cept summer) in "Fucking Desert",you'll see nothing but sand dunes for miles, what few animals you do see are either covered in spikes, poisonous,or huge monstrous varieties of critters that are normally tiny(like giant bats),and oh yeah, the weather wants to fucking kill you. allmost every construction job I've ever had has been in the outlying"Fucking Desert",in the "Fucking Desert" I've seen a horizontal tornado(was putting up a roof ironically nuff, the roof was half way constructed, enough of it was there for the wind to catch it and rip it and the wooden framing it was attached up and hurl it bout a quarter mile east),I've seen days where in the wee hours of the morning,it was 40 outside with a wind chill of minus twenty which was a real treat cause it was also hailing...sideways, felt like being sand blasted in a freezer, the same day it topped out to 110 before noon....and of course sand storms, like "I can't see what's three feet infront of me"sand storms...Oh,and did I mention the floods? We don't get much rain, but when we do,it normally dumps on us in a manner of minutes. The biggest spot of "Fucking Desert" out here is wonder valley, which is where all the flood controls for neighboring 29 palms dumps its water, making the whole of wonder valley just one big mud pit every time it rains. all of these weather phenomena happens in seasons either beginning in the letter "S" or ending in the letters "er"... and for some odd reason, all of our larger earthquakes are in the summer.... Oh,and am I the only one who LOoOoVeS pumpkin ale? quote:
ORIGINAL: RockaRolla I also live in Florida so we don't get a proper fall. But I work in a grocery store and we're flooded with pumpkin everything and the first wave of snowbirds, so I guess the season changed on is. the snow birds round here flock to near by palm springs, which is all well and good cept if you have to drive anywhere in palms springs, where inevitability you'll end up stuck behind some lost elderly person driving an exotic sports car who's driving at least thirty miles below the speed limit with their turn indicator left of for miles......they make sudden turns erratically, can rarely manage to stay in their lane, and drive the most expensive high performance cars at the same speed as their golf carts.....it's maddening, fucking maddening I tell you...
