In the UK its one of the most popular daytime entertainment programmes. I have no idea how popular it is in America?

Do you watch the Jeremy Kyle show? If so, what do you get out of it?

If you don't watch the Jeremy Kyle show, why not? What are your thoughts on shows like this?

Never heard of him. If he's on U.S. television he's not on any channel I frequent. He sounds (based upon a quick perusal of the Wikipedia entry) like a Brit version of Jerry Springer which means I wouldn't be interested any way.

I think Jerry Springer inspired him but unlike Springer, Kyle is no ring master, he takes sides.

Shows like this bore me to death. I stay away from TV in general but moreover I stay away from talk shows that are sensationalistic in order to get viewers.

It's more animalistic than sensationalistic.

Steer clear of it.

Reminds me of Victorian side shows designed for viewers to gawp at grotesques. Just generally, all round, unpleasant.

I agree. I think Jeremy bloody Kyle is one of the biggest narcissists on this planet.

Just read that the American version is a lot more moderate.

Jeremy Kyle shocks me at how judgmental he is. It's like his trying to be Dr Phil sometimes.
I don't know why people still bother going on programs like that, just to be shamed and put down by the host.

Amongst certain circles it's considered quite cool. I know, it's hard to believe that anyone would put themselves up for such voluntary humiliation but they do. For a long time I believed they were actors, but when I worked in the domestic violence unit a couple of my clients had actually been on it, and it was pretty common for them to say, 'I even offered to go on Jeremy Kyle and take a lie detector/DNA test' to demonstrate to me how very sincere they were.

One particularly memorable dingbat (the abuser, not the victim) wanted her to go on Jeremy Kyle for the DNA test on her twins because, get this, he believed that one twin was his but not the other.

Now I know in extremely rare cases a woman can get pregnant from two seperate sexual encounters, but this wasn't a medical miracle, this was just a really stupid man.

I was reading about what goes on behind the scenes from those who have been on the show. They tell them to turn up in any old clothes but not to worry because they will be dressing them and doing their make-up. They are then kept up till around 2am in the morning and asked personal questions. On the day of the show, couples are separated and the crew keep going back and forth between them with "he said, she said" wind ups. By the time they are kicked out on the stage, now looking tired and bedraggled because they didn't get their make-up or clothes they were promised, they are gunning for a fight.

The entire show is no better that bear baiting in my opinion. Why is picking out an underclass and using them to stigmatize white trash so acceptable? The audience that hiss and boo on his show are as bad as him.

Yea, seriously a very stupid man! What the hell! I hope she dump his ass, although it must be hard to bring up twins in her own.
