Sanity -> Carter: Obamas a Wimp vs. Islamic Extremists (10/8/2014 5:01:08 PM)

Its pretty ripe irony when Jimmy Carter accuses you of being inept vs. Islamafascists

Well, he would know. [:)]

Could have called the thread, the inept calls the inept inept

Aylee -> RE: Carter: Obamas a Wimp vs. Islamic Extremists (10/8/2014 6:17:28 PM)

Maybe the Nobel Prizewinner who let the Ayatollah come to power could trade war stories with the Nobel Prizewinner who's starting an {as currently fought} unwinnable war in the Middle East.

Gandhi would have nothing to add to that conversation, as he never was awarded the Nobel Prize. That, and he is dead.

Aylee -> RE: Carter: Obamas a Wimp vs. Islamic Extremists (10/8/2014 6:20:56 PM)

Panetta, Robert Ford, and Robert Gates have also chimed in with comments lately.

Sanity -> RE: Carter: Obamas a Wimp vs. Islamic Extremists (10/8/2014 6:31:08 PM)

Obama came to power riding a wave of leftist propaganda that claimed that GWB and the USA were pure evil for fighting poor misunderstood Islamists

Elect Barack Obama, they said, and the world would love us. Racial animosity would end forever, and the sea levels would begin receding

Now days Obama is walking around with a rough cut 4X4 of reality shoved up his ass, and he can't backpedal fast enough on all the bullshit and lies that were spewed against everything that was Bush and our military

Even Jimmy Carter says he is slow to react against terrorists

How would you fight it? To make it winnable, that is.

Mnot called him the village idiot. That kind of stuck in my mind. TheHeretic has Mnot on hide (too funny.) When one is emotional / irrational as he is --- at least you can appreciate the pattern.

No one was publicly crying in their bowl when the US pulled out of IRAQ after spending $1 Trillion Dollars there. Sanity's man, GWB, picked Maliki, disbanded the IRAQI army, and instituted debaathification. His guys claimed the insurgents were DEAD ENDERS. His guys threw the SUNNIs into Abu Ghraib.

Frankly, it's a childish mind to think as he does -- personalizing and imputing all the world's problems to a President who did not create them.

What does Sanity want? IT looks like more endless war and recessionist, deficit inducing policies.

Here's an essential, striking fact published in the New Yorker on 9/29/2014.

ISIS is run by a council of former IRAQI generals, according to Hisham Alhashimi, an advisor to the IRAQ government and an expert on ISIS. Many are members of Saddam Hussein's secular BAATH Party who converted to radical Islam in American prisons.

servantforuse -> RE: Carter: Obamas a Wimp vs. Islamic Extremists (10/8/2014 7:13:45 PM)

Priceless. Carter and Obama fighting over who will be remembered as our country's worse president. They do have one thing in common. They are both democrats.

What do these pukes have in the way of equipment first? Any Air-power? Armor Assets? Considering that they've been smashing Syrian and Iraqi forces, I want to know what they have.

We start with armor, because I don't think they have any air. We begin with light tanks, such as the Stuart. Maybe upgrade the gun from a 37 mm to a 57 mm if possible. Medium armor could be Grants and Shermans, or Patton tanks. Platoon of five light tanks, company of 18 medium tanks.

Artillery SPGs in the 105-155 mm range, two batteries.

Infantry battalion, three line companies, a heavy weapons company, Hqs/Svc company.

Supporting assets. Supply logistics units for each major component/unit, and plenty of transport. Lots of trucks, maybe some APCs. UAV recon units, Engineers, Medical units.

Figure on a minimum of 6,000 people.

Physical requirements? Pass the PFT for your age group, be able to walk five miles with sixty pounds in two hours. Hit the dog target at three hundred meters from the standing position.

Supposedly they now have M1 Abrams that they looted from the Iraqis along with some T-72 tanks from Syria and Iraq. They also have a good bit of artillery. Now whether they know how to use any of it is a different story.

Worst case scenario then would be Armor that can move and shoot, in desperate need of maintenance and bore-siting. Call it 1 hit in twenty rounds, maybe? Artillery is probably mostly towed peices, but may be more dangerous for that, needing less maintennce than an SPG.

The trick would be to hit them at weak points(hence the UAV units), wearing down their numbers while looking for the most advantageous ground for a large conventional battle.

While it would be nice to have some modern MBTs, Stuart light tanks and shermans can kill T 72s and even Abrams tanks. Doubtful that these clowns can handle tank formations larger than a platoon, so a company of Sherman tanks reinforced by a platoon of Stuarts would chop 'em up.

Go after fuel and food depots. Can't run armor and trucks without fuel. Also any other logistic locations, plus key transportation infrastructure. Cut the oil pipelines and if they try to move the gold they have taken, steal it from them.

I said a combat unit of about six thousand people. That did not include an air element. I'm adding a squadron of fixed wing planes for bombing/strafing, some choppers for fire support and transport. Make it 8,000 troops now, and the goal is to kill bad guys, rescue innocents, and train people to fight back against these stains on humanity.

Start sortieing B-2's and B-52's and have them carpet bomb any area that has ISIS leadership in it. If they NSA does not have the SIGINT to tell us where that is, they need to be fired.

Rain 2000# bombs until the command signals are gone, then have drones and fighter bombers run around and let the SPECTRE play at night. Once they have been hammered in this manner, the non-whack job Muslims should be able to deal with them.

I would also use the ROE from WW2 instead of the current ones and employ reprisals.

Of course, there is the temptation as well to go "Buckman" on them. (Caliphate by Col. Kratman)

Dynamics change in any given country, like with Russia. Putin quintupled the GDP but heroin use sky rocketed. It's a matter of perspective. Securing the Middle East is a priority, LEARN from history. See; Soviet-Afghan war. There are 18 political benchmarks set by the GAO for Iraq, all 18 must be met. This is obviously Assad's way of fighting a covert war in Iraq because the republicans in Congress decided to bully the President instead of focusing on securing the chem weapons and dispelling Assad's regime.

That's what Bush did and he had no after thought to the result, ergo current circumstance. Learning through trial and error as human beings is important you see.

GoddessManko -> RE: Carter: Obamas a Wimp vs. Islamic Extremists (10/8/2014 8:55:26 PM)

Actually Bush has the top tier running for the gold medal of "Worst President in US History, that is Bush II, not Bush I;
According to same article, Obama is # 15.
http://www.usnews.com/news/history/features/the-10-worst-presidents

According to the History News Network, 61% of historians deemed Bush II as the worst.
http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/48916

Back in 2004, before he was voted in AGAIN, (we just couldn't get enough), he was deemed a failure by 81% of historians.

http://historynewsnetwork.org/article/5019

Also Carter felt the backlash of NIXON'S decision to withdraw from the Bretton Woods, our dollar was no longer backed by gold and our investors panicked, so congrats. You get that ace in the hole too.

Obama had a democratic house and senate.

Strategy not bullets? Really? When has that ever worked?

Bush did NOT "go Buckman." It is quite obvious that you are not familiar with the novel.

Does that show a connection between al Qaeda and Iraq, then?
