And our dwindling community has successfully driven off yet another new poster. Good job people.

Staff would be one of the first to try to deflect a situation arising with a new poster and those that have been here a while. However, when an adult chooses to come in the door screaming, even at Mc Donalds, they are going to have a problem. To expect other adults that have some participation with sadism, to coddle a screamer without their being a part of what makes them scream, is a bit much to expect.

People are people and forums are forums. These things will happen.

I must add; don't believe everything you read in a forum. Without too many details, I have seen someone come in screaming that had no reason to scream, other than they liked to scream apparently. Staff found nothing that was claimed and we did check it out. You scream, you just might get the attention of some sadist and a couple of mods.

Oddly enough, even when we have embraced some new people they don't come back. Care to explain that, or would you rather just try to give, yet another, glowing endorsement for another site?

Don't like the neighborhood? Move out.

Do you think her venting was unwarranted? I mean this is a topic that regulars routinely vent/complain/comment on including in multiple threads right now.

It seems to me like this community had a chance to talk her down by explaining that a lot of the same people she was having trouble with are also on fet, it's just that fet is so poorly set up for online dating that they can't find anybody. And that we as a community could have had a conversation on how to craft a profile so as not to be such a lightning rod for those people.

Instead we decided to make jokes at her expense to amuse each other.

What does sadism have to do with anything?

No.

People are not all exactly the same. Variations in people lead to variations in groups which means that not all forums are exactly the same.

That sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy.

I remember arpig, I certainly get that not everything that everyone is saying is true but in this case where she's complaining about a problem which I'm assured is common by a variety of regulars why (other than perhaps proforum bias) would I operate from the position that she was lying?

How exactly is a less than perfect retention ratio under ideal circumstances a valid justification for blatant dickishness?

I wouldn't endorse fet as an online dating site, it really is not any good as one.

I'm just as much a part of the neighborhood as you, don't like that? Feel free to take your own advise.

I will be back to respond GotSteel. I have to check on other things before I can settle in and get into this.

I am tempted to say this might be better done on a different thread. I just got here, so I will think on this as I do the other things expected of me and I will be back.

Okay. I need to do something here that I cannot exactly explain at the moment and I don't need a ruckus about it. There are member privacy concerns. I am going to lock this thread and we can start on a new thread if you want this discussion. I am not avoiding the topic. We can discuss it, but not on this particular thread.

GotSteel, if you want to start the thread, you can link back to this thread or posts.

This thread and the recent posts have been one of those hard calls for a moderator. I am considering many things and as I said, I had just gotten here and I have many things to attend to when I first come in. Sometimes those things can take many hours and I still haven’t gotten to everything.

I do think what has been brought up is an important matter and I didn’t want it to be stopped. I was concerned in various ways because there are many things as a moderator that I have to deliberate. Due to the importance, I quickly thought it best to start a thread on this and one factor in this would be for future search capabilities when someone wanted to refer to the topic that has evolved here. That was utmost in my mind in the overall because I believe the topic to be as significant as it is.

As I look at it after getting some of my work done, I realize it may be difficult to start a thread and may be something that no one wishes to take on. I thought of starting the thread myself, but I really wish to avoid staff starting threads. Yet, for clarity and transparency on my part, and in consideration for the concerns and input of members, this topic really needs to move forward somehow.

I may have made it more difficult for this to move forward, so I will open this thread again in hopes that we can get into it. I just didn’t want the OP of this thread to be the topic and hoped for easier search. I am not perfect and sometimes I need a little time to weigh everything out. I can’t read minds and know what you all want and this is why I value so very much the emails I get because it helps to know how members feel about things.

So we are open again and I am sorry I caused a delay.

I think you're right about it being a good idea to start a new thread for this. I'm working on it at the moment, just got distracted by epic sex with my girl.
