The first cases of Ebola being transmitted to people in the US happened in a conservative state?

Meh. Another frustrated smartish person without a party is NOTHING to that 1970's VW bus with no brakes, coming down the steep mountain road.

It could have happened anywhere, but if you must find a link to Texas, maybe because it was an immigrant family that brought the disease in, and Texas is where the jobs are?

Yeah, the link to Texas would not include anything other than A red welfare state governor who finally returned from his vacation while his state has been spewing death, and him with thousands of troops guarding our porous border (inept and innefectual as is the case with all of them) and a guy who came to marry the mother of his son. But it certainly wasn't about jobs, there are many states in way better shape.

I think this is how the rightwing bloggers get their 'facts', from such untutored theories.

(and thats the one I owe you rich).

Actually the question is a joke, considering all the conspiracy theories that have been popping up about the Ebola outbreak, some started by conservative politicians, others started by ultra right conservative pundits that conservative politicians would avoid like a 60"s lera liberal hippie peace and free love rally.

I posted this question on websites for conservative and liberal pundits alike. I want to conduct a social experiment to see just how long it is before someone jumps on it and goes off the deep end.

The reason that the first Ebola death and the first two cases of Ebola transmitted in the US happened in Texas is that this is the state the man was traveling to, and the hospital was not prepared for Ebola, a truism that includes every public hospital in the US except for four, and you could count Fort Dietrich if you wanted.

It doesnt help that the CDC admitted that no one is really sure about all the possible ways Ebola can spread.

Actually, there's not any of that which has anything to do with Ebola in Texas, as Jlf noted.

If this took place in most of the states of the nation, it could have been much worst. There is only like three facilities in the nation with about 11-19 beds (various sources point this out right now). So long as this stays to single digits, the health care forces of the nation can handle the problem. If it reaches into the 10's units, they can still do much about it. Once it starts to get into the 100's, the ability of the nation's health care forces will start failing. The nation should have been building up infrastructure, trained individuals and other resources this whole time. The threat was known and understood by anyone with a grasp on reality. There is no 'silver bullet' vaccine at this time; just a small pool of experimental drug therapies that may or may not work for the population. The reason the FDA and other agencies are not fast tracking this stuff, is due to additional health concerns. These drugs have not been tested in-depth nor long term to understand how they might adversely effect the human body. Giving them the drug could create an even bigger problem. That this happens in Texas, the second largest population of the nation, and home to the most stupid people in America....isn't a surprise. Now if the first Ebola case took place in Maryland or Iowa, THAT, would be unique....

Operation: Dark Winter, was created by the government to test the health care systems of the nation at the time. And found the nation was very unprepared at the time to handle something equally deadly. That people in the nation have resisted due to fear and party politics, to make a number of improvements, should serve as an education to 'get the information before making a decision'. I believe a partial reason for the ACA was to strength the nation from biological attacks of one form or another. That it would allow multitudes of Americas to seek medical professional help when confronted with tough-to-beat illnesses, would hopefully stave off such attacks from becoming larger. The 'mentality' in the nation during Operation: Dark Winter (and still sadly true in most places today) is "I am only going to the doctor if I think I'm dying'. Unfortunately, the 'fictional small pox' and Ebola are stuff that by the time they going to the ER, they're already dead.

Its ironic that the state most against improving health care systems for its citizens (including implementing the ACA and supporting the concept) should be the state to encounter Ebola first.

well.. there are a lot of engineers and oil employees that travel around the world for their greedy, money grubbing corporate enslavers that are from Texas.. they go offshore then come back, then go offshore again.. wherever oil and gas are in whatever corner of the earth.. including to African countries... there are a lot of other travelers in and out of here also..

But there seems to be a few other strange viruses that have surfaced here also.. those seem to be accidentally imported also.. but since they are not hyped like ebola is, those don't get the media headlines..

It is all to do with Ebola in Texas, the man went to his wife to be. He had Ebola, she was in Texas, he was in Texas, then he died, I know it made the papers even in your world.

The point is that it was not a conspiracy that it happened. But as I said, I posted the question on various news and pundit sites liberal and conservative just to see if someone bites.

So, let us sit back and see if the media talking heads on both sides is really as stupid as they act.

You must be thinking NYC

quote:

Texas is More Than Just an Economy Based on Energy. It's not the 1980s Anymore!

As strong as the Texas economy is, it is widely misunderstood. Hollis Greenlaw, CEO & Chairman of United Development Funding IV tells TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino Texas creates more oil than Kuwait or Venezuela and more than the amount of imports from the Middle East, which means the energy sector is a significant player in the Texas economy. Last year the state saw an increase of about 16, 000 jobs in the energy space. However, seven other sectors of the Texas economy produced more jobs than energy. The leading sectors were trade, transportation and utilities, accounting for nearly 75,000 jobs. Other sectors include professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, education and health, construction, government and financial services. Over the last 12 months ending in August, TX added almost 400,000 new jobs, a 3.5% annualized growth rate. The Texas economy is not the economy of the 1980s driven by oil, but rather a globally diversified economy.

So the leading "other" category is transportation (of....petroleum products?) and utilities (like, say, electricity, natural gas . . . )

... vs. energy . . .

The Texas power grid is the only one in the country that is independent of the rest of the country.

The major industry in Texas is creating paranoid right wing extremists like Ron Paul and that Mormon fundamentalist that is serving time for a number of counts of statutory rape.

You probably hate Ron Paul because he is against Obama's endless wars in the ME?

I dont like ron paul because he is a raving lunatic. I dont support Obama mid east policy, I didnt support bush's invasion of Iraq.

thanks to the pair of them, combat vet suicides are breaking records, the VA is overwhelmed, but hey, show me a politician that gives a fuck. US combat personnel are a means to an end, a tool of diplomacy, and expendable.
