Some highly unusual truth-telling:

Snowden Film Tests Hollywood Obama Backers

The Documentary ‘Citizenfour’ Raises Political Questions

LOS ANGELES — Early in Laura Poitras’s documentary “Citizenfour,” Edward J. Snowden, who exposed vast electronic surveillance by the United States government, tells what pushed him to go public.

“As I saw the promise of the Obama administration betrayed, and walked away from,” says Mr. Snowden, referring to drone strikes and invasive monitoring by the National Security Agency, “it really hardened me to action.”

But do some of President Obama’s staunch Hollywood supporters share his sentiment?

Her provocative, and deeply admiring, look at Mr. Snowden — which had its premiere at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 10 — arrived here this week amid high hopes, intense curiosity and more than a few raised eyebrows over its sharp critique of Mr. Obama, a president who has enjoyed strong support in the movie world.

Leftists once screamed about the Patriot Act from the time they awoke 'til the time they went to sleep, but that all changed when the next president had a D by his name and he signed the Patriot Act extension

Still, a little water does get around that propaganda dam today

since the age of electronic communication, the government has been spying on the citizens, it began with a program developed for the FBI that combed through every email originating in the US for specific terms that could be linked to a terrorist plot. Then the DOJ expanded the software to look for any terms that indicated criminal activity.

With the advent of cell phones, text messaging etc, the program went even bigger. Since cell phone communication is technically a two way radio communication, there is no requirement to monitor cell phone frequencies. when a main frame hit the point that it could monitor every cell phone in the country, the NSA went to work.

If you think it never happened before Obama, better think again. Face the facts, it matters not which party is in power, neither side trusts the American citizens.

Welcome to the world of big brother.

I didnt write that it never happened before president hope and change came into office, jlf

But nice try at a straw man argument

Speaking of the here and now, heres a related article:

FBI director wants access to encrypt Apple, Google users’ data, demands law ‘fix’

The FBI director has slammed Apple and Google for offering their customers encryption technology that protects users’ privacy. “Deeply concerned” James Comey wants to push on Congress to “fix” laws to ensure police can still access private data.

“It’s the equivalent of a closet that can’t be opened. A safe that can’t be cracked,” Comey, speaking at the Brookings Institute in Washington DC, referred to the encryption technology calling the new service “a marketing pitch.”

Is that what his fawning media and Hollywood useful idiots are calling him these days

So which is it? Leftists or just the Hollywood media crowd?

Before you go ranting, decide what your beef actually is, and with whom.

Lot less confusing. Will make you look a lot less stupid too.

Btw -- here's one media take . . . from Sept. 19, 2014:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUFIy_o1Lv0

And the title? Um . . . would you believe . . . Bush Lite!

Well gosh golly.

Why do you feel the need to make every thread about other posters, John?

Here's a suggestion, try learning some debating skills down at the local community college., or even online.

So you don't really know then, apparently.

Pity. An opportunity lost. Alas.

Instead of making demands of me personally, try addressing the forum generally

jlf1961 -> RE: Hollyweird Naval Gazing (10/18/2014 1:00:26 PM)

I wasnt trying for a straw man, I was trying to point out that President Ooops along with vice president bitin his tongue are just the continuation of the same bullshit.

His hope and change was nothing more than mealy mouthed bullshit since he had no balls to back it up.

I think the last free thinking presidents this country had was Eisenhower and Kennedy, maybe. the last truly honest president, cant think of one, even honest Abe lied his ass off about the civil war.

As for surveillance of the people, Obama expanded it, I am sure. Hell I would be surprised if the NSA werent monitoring what we fucking eat for breakfast (people who eat excessive amounts of bacon are known to be extremists.)

I am still wondering why anybody wants to gaze at the Navy for any length of time ?

Even now, I'm still thrown by people who assume that a supporter of the US's Democrat party must by definition be a "leftist". Hell, it's a different world your side of the pond, MM, it really is.

Maybe it's something to do with the Village People Lucy.............they were just a little weird.

Lucylastic -> RE: Hollyweird Naval Gazing (10/18/2014 5:50:44 PM)

Of course levels of weird is subjective, but....just a lil:)

dcnovice -> RE: Hollyweird Naval Gazing (10/18/2014 6:25:02 PM)

Ain't nothing weird about appreciating a man in uniform--or a fleet of them.

Lucylastic -> RE: Hollyweird Naval Gazing (10/18/2014 6:36:35 PM)
