When I enter Chinese characters in a message to someone, they aren't interpreted properly so they show up as gibberish. Is the problem at my end or is it simply that the messaging system can't deal with foreign text? Any help would be very much appreciated.

It would depend on what fonts you have installed - both at your end the the receiver's end.

There are several sets of Chinese character fonts.
If yours doesn't match the receiver's, they'll see gibberish.

Of course, doh! Thank you for the reply. It suddenly dawned on me after your reply, that when I re-installed Windows I forgot to set it up again by installing the MS-IME.
