strongnsubmissiv -> New Posters... (11/24/2004 2:10:28 PM)

Am i the only noticing this, but it seems that lately, there's been a lot of one sentence postings, that are usually real ambiguous or general questions? I also find it strange that they usually come from profiles with only 1 or 2 posts, and then we never hear from them again.

*coughahem pitiful attempt to spam via the forums for the purposes of profile exposure? coughahemahem*

*coughahem using forums for financial gain? coughhack*

Must have a frog in my throat, sorry. :P

Could be. For me though I don't look at profiles. Unless I have reason to e-mail you on the other side. I don't care if it is a man/woman/sub/slave or whatever.

So, doesn't get them any added attention in my way of thinking. My profile was put together in probably less than 3 minutes. Frankly it says little to nothing about me. The interests are probably not even right. I was'nt looking for a Dom when I created it, I was merely signing up so I clicked on anything.

Just me though.

Not sure if that is the case or maybe just that, they have moved on to other pastures. Alternatively, perhaps they found that their posts gathered no replies. Sometimes people are just attempting to get a conversation started in some form or another and they are no comfortable in chat rooms. So they try the forums and if they gain nothing form it, they do not do it again.

Either that or as mentioned before they find something more to their liking elsewhere.

It seems to me that some posters just start a thread to get a reaction from others.

The posts that really make you look inward are the posts that really catch my attention.

They seem to me like people who are trying to either stir up the forum or get a topic going they are interested in. Not everyone is good at posting. I once encouraged a sub to post a question she had in the forums. I found out later that after 24 hours of no response she decided that no one was going to answer and didn't bother to check back. She was very surprised when I brought it to her attention that she had a lot of advice and info waiting.

I can see where there could be barriers, although I think self imposed, and reasons why a person may write 1 or 2 posts and then stop.
For myself, I am a bit shy when it comes to posting in the forums right now. I have been in a D/s relationship for almost 8 months now R/T and have been exploring the lifestyle for about a year and a half.
Another stumbling block I find for myself, that limits my posting, is that I am a Lesbian Submissive/switch, who is mostly into the emotional power dynamics in D/s, with light play in B/D. Sometimes I feel somewhat hesitant to post, out of not connecting to some of the discussions because they are most of the time Hetrosexually related between or about Dom's and female subs/slaves or Dommes and the boy sub/slave.
But when I do find a topic I relate to or feel I have something to share, I will post. evven though still in shyness and nervousness that what i say may not be pertinent, because I come from a different angle in the lifestyle(which I know varies widely).
I do find most of you to be very open, honest, warm and welcoming. It's mostly my hang-up. I have learned much from some of your experience and wisdom and I thank you.[&:]

Maybe some folks who are new to the site want to see what the people here are about before they jump right in?
