Sanity -> The Sucker-In-Chief strikes a deal... (11/12/2014 6:36:30 AM)

Our enemies really like this guy

quote:

BEIJING — Chinese leader Xi Jinping and President Obama struck a deal Wednesday...

China, the world’s biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, pledged in the far-reaching agreement to cap its rapidly growing carbon emissions by 2030...

...Obama announced a target to cut U.S. emissions 26 to 28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025

...China completes a new coal plant every eight to 10 days, and while its economic growth has slowed, it is still expanding at a brisk rate of over 7 percent.

The only question here, is Barack really that stupid, or does he hate the United States that much

I don't know the answer to this question, but I fail to see how wanting to reduce carbon emissions constitutes hatred of the United States. A lot of people have been wanting to do that anyway, regardless of whether we sign a treaty with China over it.

From the article you linked:

quote:

But Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) said “this unrealistic plan, that the president would dump on his successor, would ensure higher utility rates and far fewer jobs.”

Other Republicans joined McConnell in criticizing the deal. Sen. James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.), who is widely expected to assume the chairmanship of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in January, called the pledges by Obama and Xi “hollow and not believable,” and he suggested that the agreement was tilted in China’s interest.

And this is from the same bunch who were strident cheerleaders for outsourcing and free trade, particularly when it came to China, and now they're upset about how it's turned out? Do they hate the United States, too?

Lucylastic -> RE: The Sucker-In-Chief strikes a deal... (11/12/2014 7:17:14 AM)

yep only right wing nut jobs see this as a bad move....
colour me surprised
The two countries together account for about 45 percent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions, and their commitments are likely to energize talks underway to set new post-2020 targets when climate negotiators meet in Paris in December of next year. “The announcement provides a real shot of momentum for international climate negotiations,” one administration official said before the Obama-Xi announcement.
Its about time the US and china stop crapping in the world bed so much.
what is it about regulating carbon emissions that gives you such a hard on?

mnottertail -> RE: The Sucker-In-Chief strikes a deal... (11/12/2014 8:28:55 AM)

Ja, China is polluted, they have to do something, it is a toxic environment they live in. So, its like a quitting smoking deal, you guys cut your emissions, and us guys will accelerate slightly those things that we are already committed to do.

That is essentially the deal.

Sure, what a fantastic bargain

In the name of the greatest hoax ever slit our own throats from now til 2025 with the promise that in 2030 they will begin slitting their own throats

And we know we can trust them, too

Because they really, really love us and want to be our friends

quote:

In New China, ‘Hostile’ West Is Still Derided

BEIJING — Even as his government was making red-carpet plans to host President Obama this week, the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, praised a young blogger whose writing is best known here for its anti-American vitriol.

In one widely circulated essay published by state news outlets titled “Nine Knockout Blows in America’s Cold War Against China,” the blogger, Zhou Xiaoping, argued that American culture was “eroding the moral foundation and self-confidence of the Chinese people.” He compared unfavorable American news coverage of China to Hitler’s treatment of the Jews. In another essay, he said the West had “slaughtered and robbed” China and other civilizations since the 17th century, and was now “brainwashing” it.

Mr. Xi, at a forum last month aimed at tightening political control of the arts, said the blogger exhibited “positive energy.”

His embrace of Mr. Zhou, who has been hailed by propaganda officials but widely mocked by scholars here, is just the latest sign of rising anti-Western sentiment, bordering on xenophobia, that has emanated from the highest levels of the Communist Party and sent a chill through Chinese civil society and academia...

Chickenlittlish nutsuckerisms notwithstanding, you think that we are going to do it all in 2025 and then they are going to start doing it in 2030? You think thats the deal? That is why you are institutionalized.

Musicmystery -> RE: The Sucker-In-Chief strikes a deal... (11/12/2014 10:58:33 AM)

I didn't realize China was our enemy.

They aren't when the nutsuckers down in the house are looking to borrow money. Nor ship jobs overseas. Nor increase the welfare rolls from Wal-Mart employees and so on.

To be fair, such simplistic world views seldom are accurate when we look at the interaction of large groups. People in big corporations.. at least people exposed to the inter-corporate politics know this for a fact. AMD was Intel's bitter rival and yet they were also an industry partner and Intel collaborated with them on a great many projects.

Whodathunk that reality was complex?

Insofar as Sanity, his position makes sense so long as you're willing to reject science and the scientific method lock, stock, and barrel.

Sorry but I am having a hard time trying to figure out why this has you upset. You do understand that cutting back on the amount of crap we spew out can only be a good thing, right? [8|]

Or perhaps is the idea that he is agreeing with China on something. I've never gotten the impression you are the type who gets along well with others, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Do you practice being clueless, or does it just come naturally to you?

China is our largest trading partner, after Canada.

Maybe you should explain to the business world and consumers that they are merely following talking points by participating in the day to day economy.

See how that works out for you.

Your typical petty insults aside, C02 isnt pollution any more than oxygen is

As if Barack Obama offering to service them on his knees is "hostile"

They get to keep massively increasing C02 emissions through 2030

We will continue drastically cutting ours from here on, dramatically harming our economy in the process while theirs continues to grow and prosper

What a bargain
