I was just curious.
What are your holiday shopping habits? Are getting ready to get things going (maybe over with ) and are ready to go at 5:00am on Black Friday.... Or are you out on Thanksgiving evening right after dinner? Are you like me and avoid ALL shopping from now to the end of January and do all your shopping online?

......or do you wait until the last minute and go on a wild shopping spree on December 24th?

InHisHeart -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/25/2014 1:55:00 PM)

I do not do Thanksgiving or Black Friday shopping. I don't like shopping so it's rare when I shop at stores/malls, on-line works for me any time of the year. I don't have a lot of holiday shopping to do and what I do have is easy.

I'm buying a brand new mig welder on Black Friday so I can finish my wood boiler. It's 40% off YYYYAAAAYYYYY!!!!!

RockaRolla -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/25/2014 2:41:00 PM)

I work in a grocery store and am busy most holidays, but I'm fortunate this time around to work for a company that's closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

That said, I'm lazy and go for path of least resistance. Last year I did the bulk of my Xmas shopping online, in the month of December. Right now I haven't even thought about it yet, except that this may be the year I get one of my brothers a copy of the Satanic Bible because it just might make him start reading.

shiftyw -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/25/2014 2:54:13 PM)

My guy works retail.
I don't believe in these things, especially on thanksgiving, so outrageous in my opinion...

I will go out for small business Saturday like a pretentious ass, and then will sit in my underwear and order on Monday!

My ex boyfriend has 4 older sisters and every year on Thanksgiving....they may or may not eat at each other's houses, but in the evening they all get together with all the advertisements from local stores and they literally plot out their shopping strategies for Black Friday. They look at the things that are on sale and they all think about what they want to buy and which store has it, and then each one of them is assigned a store and given list of what everyone else wants from that particular store. Then they find out when their assigned store is scheduled to open (midnight? 4 am? 6 am?)....and rev up their cell phones so they can all stay in contact with each other and report progress to each other. It's an elaborate operation that they have fine tuned over the past 25+ years....and needless to say the advent of the cell phone has made it much easier.

Of course now that more stores are opening on Thanksgiving day or evening....I'm not sure what they do now.

Kaliko -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/25/2014 4:06:57 PM)

I don't like Black Friday. I'm not against it, or anything. I just don't like the crowds and craziness. I participate from home in my pajamas at my keyboard.

I usually make a trip or two out to actual stores at some point between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it's an enjoyable time spent, not a harried rush. I have done the wild shopping spree in the past, years ago, but I'm a bit more calm these days about it all.

Me too!!! [:)] Although not really much else I need to buy .... I think I'm done.

PandoraFoxxx -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/25/2014 5:39:47 PM)

I work retail so most of my holiday shopping I do online or in between shifts if I have the time for it.

smileforme50 -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/25/2014 5:45:37 PM)

I'm too broke to buy anybody any gifts....and I hate shopping too much. The only "gifts" I've given for the past 4 years have been $25 gift cards to my 2 nieces and 2 nephews...that I buy at the local Walgreen's.

*BAH HUMBUG*

ShaharThorne -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/26/2014 11:22:54 AM)

I crocheted afghans for my brother's kiddos and got a book for Mom. Mom brought boots for the kiddos. I will probably get my usual perfume Passion from someone. Lizard received her present early (sewing machine).

I don't shop for the holidays, nor will I go anywhere near a retail outlet between now and January unless I absolutely must.

Blonderfluff -> RE: Holiday Shopping (11/26/2014 11:40:23 AM)

I've been shopping for everyone here and there, since LAST year. I still am on the lookout for a few specialty things for my daughter, but if I don't find them, they can wait.

I love to find the PERRFECT gift. But I rarely stress about it.

I am crocheting an afghan for a gift as well, this year. I finally got started early enough to finish up by Christmas. I always have good intentions, but procrastination gets me every time. (Kind of like what I'm doing right now...)
