LittleGirlHeart -> some people have no manners when taking their dog in public (11/28/2014 6:37:19 PM)

calley had a vet appointment and they were busy so we were kept waiting for over an hour and 30 minutes, and some guy wasn't watching his dog, and I gave them a break the first time his dog stuck the face in my dogs face, cuz they were just coming in the door, but I told them do not let your dog put their face in her face, please. So then he would not pay attention to what his dog was up to and the dog kept putting their face in my dogs face. So i was a little less polite and i repeated the request, but this time I said she might bite. Well the doofus said if she does I will seperate them.

That's not even the point though I mean how hard is it to watch your dog and make sure they don't stick their face in another dog's personal space. Another lady let her dog run upto Callie, and I said shes not other dog friendly, then kept letting her dogs sniff Calley, but it was a small dog and Callie really didn't notice , she did a little bit and then the lady would pull the dog back and say Nono Nono so att least it was not a blatant disrespect of the warning, that Calley is not other dog friendly. I am really proud of Callee, it was busy in the office and she did really well , she always does but this time it was a bit stressful for her . She did how ever go up to people and try to say hi , which I wouldn't let her unless they said it was ok. and after I got after the maN for allowing his dog to bother Callie, she did sidle up to someone and lean against them with her head and body . How ever the person had had Callie earlier in the waiting room , so it was okay . She wasnt trying to cuddle a stranger who would not like her attention.

The good news is she is fine! No ear infections, and the growth on her ear is harmless. dr sing says she is very healthy and I keep her in amazing shape

My ex had a little basenji, I used to warn people that he wasn't dog friendly but sometimes they ignored me. Their little pooch would wander over tail awagin and then he would let them know he wasn't dog friendly. They usually listened to him.

There are parents out there who don't watch their children.
For some people with fur-babies, it's the same thing.

Rockarolla, yup.

We were in the waiting room, and this lady had brought two kids with her, and the entire 50 minutes I waited for Daddy, the kids acted up with little to no correction from mom. And they kept demanding when are we going to McDonald's,over and over, and she kept saying after this. Well the little boy kept locking the lobby door, at two points locking people out , then the mother would not get up and open the door I did , then she would he say stop locking the door and the boy would look at her go over and lock the door again. So finally I got up and told the receptionist that the child is locking the door repeatedly and has at this point locked people out of the office twice.

So then he started messing with the blinds, and mom's saying don't do that, but he contines, she puts the string up high, so he climbs onto the chairs and swatts at his mom when she tries to stop him

Then the sister hits him, he pinches her, and she runs crying "Mommy he pinched me" wash rince and apply 3 more times. Then she starts telling her mom she had no right to speak to the therapist in private, that she WILL go in with Mommy, mom says no, this is private, I told you. To which she gets told point blank again, no I AM going in. All the while inbetween this demanding to go to McDonald's.

Then mom gets on the phone and begins loudly having what should have been a private conversation, in the tiny waiting room while her kids continued to misbehave.

Man if we had behaved like that, One we woulda had our butts whooped right there, and two, we sure wouldn't be getting McDonald's.

I have kids. If they behaved that way, I'd STILL string 'em up!

I have a dog. Not only a dog, a service dog. I don't mean an emotional companion I just claim as an SA and take all over the place. My Jazzie is my balance, and without her I can't go out!

The disrespect is EVERYWHERE!

People don't ask, they just mess with her. Kids run up, get in her face, sometimes pull on her... and parents pay no mind. Pet owners seem to think service dog means automatic pet interaction. And I get chewed out, insulted and even yelled at when I politely run interferance or firmly tell someone to stop, she's working.

You can't escape it. It's the world we live in, and we're the bad guys because we're not the obnoxious idiots! Go figure...

Most people have never encountered a service dog and aren't aware of when and how they can interact with others vs what working means. Unfortunately, it gets old educating people about it.
