My Drag Queen friend (who's drag name is Jewanna Duwitt) is gay. Jewanna is quite tall and imposing, and a flamboyant and confident character. I think she came about as an expression of confidence in her sexuality after coming out late in life.

My cross dressing friend who plays the sax... I don't know. She is a 24/7 crossdresser and well known in the gay village here in TO, but I only know her in a music context so I don't know how she identifies in terms of sexual preference.

People openly crossdressing in public is not an uncommon thing in Toronto, and people are largely unphased by it... one of the things I love about this town.

Since both of these CDs identify as female, then they would be transgender. Cross-dressing is part of their gender identity, correct? My CD friend doesn't actually identify as female when he doesn't assume his virginal schoolgirlish role. He's called by his given masculine name. When not dressed in drag, how do your friends identify? Do they revert back to their *ordinary* selves, or toggle back & forth with ease of transition?

I've heard it said that the difference between a CD and a TG is ten years. Obviously, like all such adages it isn't always true.

I suppose my aversion to sissy behavior is that I find it a slur on being a woman. After all, if having to dress like a woman is humiliating, being called by a feminine name is humiliating, then doesn't the person believe that women are inferior to men? Someone suggested that the humiliation is in being a poor copy of a woman, which is more palatable to me.

Oh and in M/f dynamics, being a brat is often desirable. Not badly behaved but a bit of young behavior. A touch of D/lg if you will.

My gay drag queen friend only identifies as female when in drag. I don't know how my cross dressing friend identifies, but I have only ever seen her in drag.

Do your questions refer back to my original comment in some way? I am not sure I am seeing how.

I was inquiring because you had said you never thought of either of your friends as sissies, and the OP was specific about wanting to learn about sissies and not transgenders. [:)]

Let's make two distinctions here.

Transgender (What my essay was about) - Not the topic.
Sissy (The topic).

Difference from my point of view?

The first one is about identity.
The later one is about humiliation and submission.

Oh... I understand. My comment was motivated by my impression that the OP thought "sissy" had mostly to do with men wearing women's clothing. I thought there was more to it than that, and was simply pointing out that clothes don't make the sissy :)

The OP did mention gender roles though, in a way that was unclear to me what was meant, but then the OP seemed to lose interest in the thread and didn't offer any clarification (shrug).
