Also, someone earlier in the thread mistakenly said that only 10 or 15% can be hypnotized...that is inverted. The vast population can be hypnotized. Most of us do it to ourselves several times each day. Very few cannot. The most common group I come across who have difficulty are the control freaks (Dom or Sub); people who just don't trust and cannot let their guard down. Even then it's usually possible over time and as they build rapport with the hypnotist.

Yeah. That was me and you're right. I typed it completely bass-ackwards. I apologize if my typo confused people; even more so, if they avoided hypnotism because of my mistake.

I really hate the term 'susceptible' in relation to Hypnosis. It implies some kind of weakness which simply isn't true.
We don't say that someone who can't dance isn't susceptible to music.
We don't tell people who can't sing that they are susceptible to tone.

Thank you. I got the same vibe from using that word in this context.

Somewhere along the line I think the comment was also made that submissive people are more likely to be hypnotized as well. That isn't the case, at least for me. I have tried it a couple of times, and zilch, nada.

That said, enough people seem to have experiences with it being effective that it makes me hesitant to volunteer myself for any entertainers

I have been interested in the idea of hypnosis since childhood and would love hear from those that have actually experienced it. I'm not talking about a deep relaxed / meditative state or a drug induced change of consciousness, but an actual true hypnotic state.
From everything I have seen and read

it's a crock of crap
. It doesn't exist. I'd love to be proven wrong.

See above.

And what....exactly....would it take to 'prove' it to you??

You're not believing statements from hypnotists or people who have been hypnotized.
There's not point in hypnotizing you if you're just going to sit there and say "You can't hypnotize ME!!"

So...what proof would work for you?

Fair question.

I've never been hypnotized (tried twice) and I find it equivalent to 3 card Monte....a con.

However, I do believe some believe it's real and...the mind can do amazing things.

And if you believe.....

EroticHypnotist -> RE: Is real hypnosis B.S.? (3/15/2015 9:36:02 PM)

Hypnosis is about the mind doing amazing things, and in my experience, often regardless of whether the subject believes it will happen or not.

Were your two attempts at hypnosis with professionals or hobbyists? Not that the answer to that means as all hypnosis is self hypnosis anyway. So you're really not much good at self hypnosis.

Well, I was at a bar once when I was 19....some biker dude (after I'd been somewhat abrasive to his girlfriend....and he was twice the size of a standard retail laundromat) told me to "go fuck (myself)"....and I decided (after at least 12 beers) that was my best option for the night.

Not exactly hypnotizing but....I felt suddenly convinced.

Stage or performance hypnotherapy is usually a combination of placebo effect, wish fulfillment, desire for attention, etc. But it does work for meditation, creative visualization, relaxation, sleep, etc. I rarely say I believe in something, I just say I have good ideas, good experiences, etc. But I will say that I have used my hypno hero app on my iPhone to do a number of things that were important to me. I gave up drinking caffeine. It has been nearly a year so far. I trained for triathlons even though I hadn't really biked or swimmed in a few years. Now I do 6-8 triathlons per year. I also used it to help lose weight. I lost 90+ pounds in the past two-three years and have maintained 75+ pound weight loss. So you can try it for fun or for things that are really important to you. But give a try. Especially if it involves sexy time. :)

MoxieMcfly -> RE: Is real hypnosis B.S.? (11/7/2015 7:22:16 PM)

I would also say that I tried having hypnotherapist help me with non-smoking and that never worked for me. I don't think it works as a once or twice type of thing that you are not committed to on some level. But I have had great experiences with my app since them.

(also if any one is curious, I used the no smoking shot and it has been over 10 years since I have had a cigarette.)

Alpha03, can you do me a favor for God's sake. Change your avatar. That pic of the azz is becoming trite and very annoying to the sight.

Hey woman. What the hell he is doing now?.

Question: does being able to be hypnotized have any correlation to being submissive?

Does it have any correlation to intelligence?

I am not trying to stir the pot, I am just curious.
Generally speaking, higher intelligence helps, inasmuch as imagination and the ability to visualise assist the process.

What I find interesting is that subs tend to trance real easy when I grab them by the hair or throat. I tend to think of this as subspace because their self-determination just vanishes and it does so pretty much immediately.

I can't say there's a correlation there, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't.

1st beer always feels good. But , not as good as 2nd, 3rd, and so 4th. ...
