I had an unusual situation today... I had a member contact me, we messaged each other back and forth the she ask me to skype.
We went to skype only she didn't have a cam or sound... she typed while I talked and she watched the vid.
When I asked her to verify it was her before it got too wild she sent a few pics.
When I asked her to photo verify with something specific she said she didn't have a camera.
She said her situation was she was in Iraq and she wasn't allowed to have a cell phone or camera.
I asked her a few questions that seemed to check out, but i was concerned I might be getting catfished or even recorded and put up on a site.

Does this sound like a scam to you???

Not exactly a scam. It may have been a man like ET said. If she was indeed in Iraq, she would have been very leery of showing herself.

Just don't do anything on cam that you would mind if it got posted on YouTube.

I would say it's at least possible. There is still after all a very strong culture of women not being allowed to be seen by males she isn't related to. That said there are also a lot of women who are fighting that and going public with pictures of themselves not wearing a hijab or other head covering. These days it's hard to find a computer that doesn't come with a cam but who knows maybe hers is old or it's different there. I would simply be cautious and not do anything you don't want seen on the internet.

I was allowed to have a camera and a cell phone on both of my deployments (Iraq and Afghanistan). I also met my current Dom online while in Afghanistan. I skyped with him(after we had emailed a bit) and my family while deployed. Now, things may have changed, but I highly doubt it. Going to have to agree that you were probably talking with a man-troll. Sorry.

When I read the OP, I assumed the female was a national, not a deployed servicewoman.

It is still possible what she said is true , but the possibility is much smaller.
It's more likely she is not a she, but instead a he.
There was a guy on Fetlife who used a girl image as his face. He got banned from few groups when they learned it.

Good point DarkSteven.
I'm used to someone saying "I'm in *place*" (as opposed to from *place*)when they are visiting (or deployed). :)
It does make me wonder why she is allowed computer/internet access if she's not allowed a cellphone or camera. I mean it could be one at a university, but it wouldn't be allowed(more than likely) access to a site like collarspace.

So someone's a fake because they don't phrase things the same way you do? I've heard people use both. As for the computer/internet access she might well have use that of a friend she trusted. It's possible she is a fake but given the culture she comes from (assuming she is where she claims to be) it's possible she's telling the truth.

Whoa! Attack much?
I was only pointing out that I was used to hearing one turn of phrase and that DarkStephen had a point that I missed.
YES it is entirely possible that she is using a friends computer and that she is on the up and up. I hope this is true. However, the OP did say that she shared photos (possible that she has some stored on her friends comp). Also said that when asked for one that was more specific, was told that she didn't have a camera. I do find it possible that the computer didn't have a webcam, it could also be possible that the friend didn't have a camera. Or maybe she was being cautious and didn't want to show a face pic. If the lady in question is an Iraqi native, this makes sense. If she is a soldier over there, like I had thought without asking for clairfication, then, it does not make sense.
However, I really didn't expect you to get so hostile and find it very off putting.

No not an attack at all. Just a question and a possible expression. Photos that might have been taken by friends, family, whoever, neither of which require a camera. Yes maybe she was just being cautious. I think you misinterpreted my post, there was no intended hostility.

The probability is 99,999999% so you might have a 0,00000001% opportunity of it being the real thing. Super odds go for it! ;)

Most of the time, males who post as females also pose as lesbians (of course there are genuine lesbians on here too) because they want to talk to women, not men. Gay male submissives seem to have more opportunities on sites like this with gay male dominants and so I think its less likely she's a man.

Its more likely to be a woman but not the one she's describing herself to be. Probably someone much older.

Adult sites such as this are blocked in Iraq (I don't know how that works for foreign military). There are systems that can unblock but try asking her if Iraq allows sites like CS and see what she says. If she says yes, you know she's lying.

Why don't you try emailing each other. As long as she doesn't send via VPN or webmail, its pretty easy to find an IP address and once you have that you can find out where she is posting from. That is if you want to be bothered.

It could be a scam and it could be she has to be really careful about outing herself since she is in Iraq. There is no way of really knowing. That said you are in Florida and talk about wanting to meet soon. Why are you even talking to her? Seems like a waste of time unless she is planning on moving soon or else you are.
