OP, the other thing you can do is ask your parents how old they were when they moved out. And if it's impossible for an adult child to make it on their own, then why aren't they still living with their parents. But that's a little more confrontational. Have they said why they don't think you're ready? My stepson keeps saying he wants to move out but he doesn't save up the money for the down payment on an apartment nearer to his job. As long as he spends everything on the newest game, upgrading his stereo, etc he isn't ready to move out. You show that you're ready to by having all your ducks in a row. Do you?
